my best buy had like at least 100 new elites in the xbox room in the middle of the floor at a 399.99 price tho the box was white the xbox was black...

i really dont like the fact they took out the hdmi cable its already lacking features like wifi so i think they should'ev kept the hdmi cable in it. i do wonder tho if this helps there sales or doesnt do anything.

Yeah I ordered one too. I just traded in my old refurb that MS sent me for $110, and got a new Jasper based Arcade. Now to play the waiting game for the HDD and the $.03 HDMI cable I got from Amazon.

No, MS will never ban anyone for these. People have been doing this for almost 3 years, and they all use the same 120GB HDD ID that is easily found through google. There's so many out there in the wild that they'd end up banning innocent people who never even knew you could do this.

Besides, people with 120 GB HDD's are bigger spenders on XBLA, which is money for MS anyways.

Microsoft Confirms Xbox 360 Price Drop, Denies Slim 360 Rumors

Microsoft's priciest version of the Xbox 360 is getting a $100 price drop this Friday, the publisher told Kotaku, and it's top selling model of the console is being phased out.

The 120GB Xbox 360 Elite will sell for $299.99, while the popular 60GB Xbox 360 Pro will be cut to $249.99. Despite being Microsoft's current top selling model, production of the the Xbox 360 Pro has already stopped, Aaron Greenberg, director of product management for xbox 360, said.

"With the Pro console we are dropping the price down $50 to $249 while supplies last," he said. "Moving forward we will have two (models), the $199 Arcade and the Elite console for $299."
Greenberg said the price drop is a direct result of lowered production costs.

"As we continue to refine and make improvements on the internal components for the Xbox 360 and costs come down we pass those savings on to our customers in the form of price drops," he said.

The decision to do away with the middle-of-the-road Xbox 360 Pro, which was selling for $299, was driven by a desire to simple Xbox gamer's choices, he said, pointing out that Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 with just two models.
Although Microsoft seemed to match Sony's price drop news this week, unlike Sony and despite rumors to the contrary, they didn't announce a slimmed down version of the Xbox 360. And Greenberg says one won't be coming.

"We feel great about our console," he said. "We have taken a different philosophy, adding more value to our existing console through updates and reinventing the system software."

"We feel like our system has done very well for us in the current form. We have no plans for a slim."

Greenberg also reiterated that this generation of gaming console from Microsoft will be around for quite a bit longer.

"We feel that we're not even at the halfway point (of the Xbox 360's life cycle)," he said. "That is something we believe in strongly. People have invested in these consoles, and we have massively connected communities and we have storage. I think what we did with the New Xbox Experience is a sign of what we want to do with the console."

Another, he said, is Microsoft's recently announced Project Natal which allows gamers to play games using a video camera and the console.

"It will work with our Xbox 360 system," he said. "I think that will add to the longevity of the system.

"The Xbox 360 has plenty of future."

There is a transfer cable that attaches the second drive to the 360 via USB. Used drive may not come with the cable, but I was able to get one free by calling calling xbox support when I upgraded my HD last year.

                  Having just done it:

I transfered my Profiles(s) and actually valuable game saves to a new card. Don't need all 10 Mass Effect saves, nor rosters for Madden 08. )

I did a DRM Transfer once my new console was up and running.

Then I went to the marketplace and Queued up what I needed to download again.

EDIT - Thought you were talking about a new console. Yeah, the new 120 drive comes with a transfer cable.

I bought my hard drive from ebay though so I don't think it comes with the transfer cable. So thank you!

To add something I just checked:

Looks like maybe Arcade game saves are part of the profile. There were no saves for 'Splosion man, so I redownloaded ... but I still have all my progress.

Ugh, my launch 20 GB hard drive is starting to run out of space.

Going to have to make a decision eventually

Amazon Germany Lists 250GB Xbox 360

Online retail listings are largely a joke. A place where the hopes and dreams of unicorns are place. Online retail listings on Amazon Germany, however, are something else altogether.

In late July, Amazon Germany leaked listed a "PlayStation 3 Konsole slim". We got a PS3 Slim. Maybe this was a lucky guess, but Amazon Germany was correct.

This time the Fatherland's Amazon site, there is a 250 GB Xbox 360 Elite bundled with 2 wireless controllers and Forza Motorsport 3. All yours for €279.99 (US$400). The biggest HDD Microsoft is currently selling for the Xbox 360 is 120GB.

There has been no official of such a bundle from Microsoft. Maybe this is another lucky guess. Maybe Amazon Germany is correct. Again.

We are following up with Microsoft.
