I've done very well so far this year. Only have purchased Mass Effect 2 and MLB 2K10. Can't see getting another game for awhile since my busy time at work is going to start soon plus I still have some other games to finish and beat. My next purchase hopefully won't be until July with NCAA 10 and then this fall hopefully I'll have beat most of my older games and I'll pick up Halo: Reach, Splinter Cell, and either Just Cause 2 or Red Dead Redemption.

A buddy of mine and I have worked out a good system where we alternate the big SP titles we want. We both picked up MW2 to play online and complete the spec ops missions together but i purchased Uncharted 2 and played it and finished it and he bought AC2 and then we just swap.

We've been doing it a while with games like oblivion, fallout etc that aren't multiplayer games and have saved a bunch of money without missing out on any big titles. GOW3 is next up and it's his turn to buy.

It's not easy if you are one of those guys that has to have a game at launch because every 2nd title you have to wait untill the other person finishes it before you can play it but it's def cheaper. I have so many games that i enjoy it really doesn't bother me and every 2nd big title i get at launch so it's no biggie. If i really want to play a game at launch and its not my turn i just go over to his house.

Just picked up Ghostbusters (360) for $10 from a Hollywood Video store by me that's closing down.

Thinking about getting MLB 2K9 (I know it's buggy) if I can get it for $10 or less.

Re: Guilt, gaming and the "too many games" syndrome

                    Games bought since Feb:

                    MAG
                    Star Ocean: Last Hope International
MLB '10 The Show (PS3 and PSP)
                    Lunar: Silver Star Harmony

                    Sure buy next Tuesday: FFXIII

Yikes. I'm still not done with Star Ocean, but the Show and FFXIII are just going to swallow up everything else (Show is doing that already...LOL).

Fortunately I'll be able to go on about a 3 month hiatus on buying games after FFXIII drops, and get some of these out of the way. I'm not a GOW fan and the next two on my list (Valkyria Chronicles II and MGS:PW - both PSP) don't release for several months yet.

Djwlfpack - great deal on Ghostbusters, I've heard it's a great game.

As for me, i'm in recovery mode once again, too many things to play and not enough time. I'm done for awhile, well until God of War anyways..

After buying too many games end of last year, I've only bought 2 games so far this year: Mass Effect 2 and BF:BC2.

I finished ME2 this weekend and was able to get $40 trade in at Gamestop (they are giving 50% extra until 3/14), which I will probably put towards Red Dead Redemption.

I've had the same problem for a long time: stockpiling games. Most of it is because I love the art directions in many of them and the innovations that are involved, but in the end, they don't have a lot of replay value once you beat them. They're like books, IMO, once you read and enjoy them they merely sit on a shelf for a long time until a year or more down the line you revisit them and from there that's it.

What I've started doing recently is going with the concept of trading on craigslist. Basically, why let those games sit on the shelf so no one can enjoy them? Why not trade them off to someone else and get something in return? Even if I'm losing money, per-say, on a trade, I'm still gaining a 'product' and helping someone else out at the same time.

that's a good analogy, i'm exactly the same. I always say i'll go back and play through the really good games again like uncharted etc but i never do. It just sits their collecting dust untill i eventually realise i haven't played it for 6 months and trade it in at much less value.

Does anyone ever actually go back and play through their single player only games again once they have beaten them?

I have but when I do it's only on the highest difficulty on the 2nd time through, that way it gives the game a different feel.
