That's a complete ripoff. I guess this is SONY's way of making their money back from the cheaper prices on the ps3.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

Re: PS3 disc drive won't eject!
Blzer, you can open your PS3 up pretty easily and get it out yourself. Here's a video on youtube that shows you how to change a laser if it goes bad but the steps will show you how to get the disc drive open. I've done it before and it's really not that hard. Plus, it doesn't cost a thing.

Re: PS3 disc drive won't eject!
Nope, I called my mom the day after and she said, "Just wait to talk to your father." I figure I'll just wait until I go home later tonight for the break anyway, because I didn't want it to be shipped somewhere when I wasn't there to claim it. My mom also suggested that maybe I try and take advantage of a Black Friday deal, but that would mean I'd have to get a slim (I think), which I really don't want because I want to install Linux on my PS3.
But if in the event that I get a new PS3, I'll still try and fix my old one as suggested above and then I'll have two. That way my parents may finally buy into having one around the house for Blu-rays and such. I mean it only does everything.
Needless to say, I have watched The Uninvited five times since discovering the disc was stuck in there, and I have bought and played through TMNT Re-Shelled four times.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PS3 disc drive won't eject!
For those that are unaware of my actual issue, this is it:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7laVpXX4AeA&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7laVpXX4AeA&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Only difference is that I have a disc in the drive, not out of it. So what will happen is I'll press the eject button, that sound will go on for about four seconds, and then it will stop. The blue light that indicates there is a disc in the drive will go off, and stay off until I decide to restart the system. When I restart it, the disc is again recognized and I am back to square one.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I fixed a PS3 one time with that issue. One of the mechanical "plastic" arms or whatever it's called on the disc drive is jammed in a certain position and you just have to move it back into place. For those that are unaware of my actual issue, this is it:

Here's a video of how to fix the problem: I believe this is the problem you are having Blzer.

Okay, guess I'll check that out when I get back into town.
Does anyone know if opening up the PS3 voids my... ability to get it repaired even for the paid price?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PS3 disc drive won't eject!
It does void your warranty, but if you pay to have it fixed it won't matter. I basically did the same thing. Opened it up, couldn't figure it out, sent it in.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. I did the same when I was waiting on my last refurb. Gotta say it took over the living room spot and gets more play time then the fatty, which is now in the bedroom.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
