The free PSN game each month is pretty sweet. Regardless though, depending on what this offers, and if it gives an even better online experience, I'll be all over this.http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/18/s...service-at-e3/

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
Details as posted by Tiko in another thread......while this is a cool list of features, $9.99 a month is way too much money. I do not think that this company knows what they are doing. If it was $4.99 or $5.99 a month I can deal with that, but not at $10.
Now I find it rather neat that after the 1 hour demo, you can purchase the full game. Is this going to be a digital version then I take it? If you have this feature, why not give it to all your customers as you can make much more money by not just having it for subscribers only?
According to Joystiq's sources, Sony is set to reveal a premium tier of the PlayStation Network service, labeled PSN+, during its 2010 E3 media briefing. Unlike Microsoft's Xbox Live Gold service, PSN+ will focus on giving paid subscribers additional bonuses without limiting online multiplayer between paying and nonpaying users.
Many of the features included in the premium service mimic those featured in a supposed survey released late last year. Sources tell us that subscribers will have access to a rotating list of PSP Minis and PSone Classics, exclusive in-game DLC, discounts to the PlayStation Store and "first hour" demo access to full retail titles. Following the first hour of gameplay, players will have the ability to purchase the full title; however, demo access will only be available once the entire title has been downloaded.
As PSN+ subscribers, gamers will also receive protection for their consoles with the recently announced PlayStation Protection Plan, as well as exclusive access to the long-awaited cross-game voice chat. Additional features are said to be in the works following the launch of PSN+, including the previously rumored cloud-based saving system.
Joystiq has been informed that PSN+ subscribers will also have the ability to enable an auto-patching feature, which will detect, download and install updates for recently played PS3 titles on the system.
Pricing and a release for the PSN+ service is unknown, though one source speculates PSN+ may cost $9.99 per month. When contacted, a Sony representative said the company does not "comment on rumors or speculation."

Cross-game voice chat
$10 a month, but I wonder if it will be less if you pay for the entire year up front... Either way, I'm in.Comment

re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
If they offer a yearly subscription at a reduced price, then that is fine. But no way in hell would I pay $120 a year for this. Let's hope they are smarter than some of the bad decisions which have been made over the years to not over charge people for this service. My main concern is that will there be better servers available?Comment

Chances are this will only be limited to demos for games that actually have a downloadable version of the game available, not for every game that has a demo. Now I find it rather neat that after the 1 hour demo, you can purchase the full game. re: Playstation Plus - Premium PS3 Service
Correct, it's not every game, only full retail games that are available for download from the store. It says that the full game has to be downloaded first.
Obviously it won't be $120 a year. I can see $9.99 a month, but would guess a $89.99 a year price tag. Seems about the normal cut per monthly charges.
No way Cross Game Chat is only with PSN+ IMO. That will be rolled out to everyone. Pointless to pay for a feature that most probably won't have.
I noticed the new list has PS1 games instead of PSN. Obviously no one knows the full details, but I'm betting select PSN games will be included.
It's the nature of the industry, but I would suspect this will be good for PSN overall. Money being piped in will assist them in building a better overall service for even the people who are still on the free version.Comment

Now it's interesting because if Cross Game Chat is included then it's something you get for way way cheaper on Xbox Live...It makes comparing the two services more valid because people can't go "well, it's free" anymore.Correct, it's not every game, only full retail games that are available for download from the store. It'd be dumb if it's not free though, because no one would have it to use.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

- Exclusive in-game DLC
- Exclusive access to cross-game chat
- Access to auto/background patching of games

$9.99 is an awful price point, and shouldn't be more than like $3 a month.
Sony needs to get people used to paying for PSN, as they will probably move online play into the paid service next gen anyways. Throwing out their first premium PSN tier that costs more that Live, without the primary incentive that Live uses to drive subs is insane.Last edited by bkfount; 05-25-2010, 01:45 PM.Comment

No way in hell I'd pay those prices. It almost reminds me of Madden 10 "Elite" status but 10 times worse. I thought it would be 50 or 60 bucks, but $90-$120? I'll pass.PSN: xxplosive1984Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you.
