Foursquare PS Vita app hits US PlayStation Store, gives you another reason to consider 3G

Good news for all you socially connected (and hip) regulars of local retail establishments -- who have PS Vitas, of course. Sony's just announced that the free Foursquare app has officially landed at the PlayStation Store (US), and it can be yours for a paltry 4.5MBs of space on your precious proprietary memory card. The app works over WiFi, however, the fine print advises that users may want to use 3G for the best results to help alongside the Vita's GPS. Notably, the rear touchpad and cameras are listed as being compatible with the app, as well. We've poked around the app for a few minutes, and it does feel peppy compared to what we experienced with Facebook (while it was available, anyway) -- the only oddity that's arisen lies with the map functionality, which opens a Google Maps page within the Vita's browser rather than its Maps app. Now that we can watch Netflix over WiFi, and view our Flickr albums along with Tweeting and "Checking In" between our ModNation racing tours, how's about finally letting us get our Skype on? (P.S. We'd really like Facebook back in the store, too!)

So i have been on the fence about the vita but plan to get one as soon as i have my tax refund. I work at GS and my boss has one and Ive been playing it alot.

I even reserved Unit 13, The Show(compliment to my ps3 version) and LBP

      Few Questions:

      3G or Wifi model?
      What Size memory stick?
What games to get? Thinking Uncharted

      Thanks

What Size memory stick? 8GB should suffice... if you plan on going all digital then invest in a bigger card, lol.

What games to get? Uncharted, Hot Shots, Virtua Tennis, Rayman... honestly, since launch the Vita has such a great lineup that you really can't go wrong.

        Thanks

My problem with the 3G is that the monthly service prices are just way too high. I can't imagine paying $25-$30/month. Plus I could always tether it to my phone if need be, but I highly doubt I will ever even do that.

I got the 3g just for back up if I need it. After my paid month and then free month I doubt I will ever use it again, but it is nice peace of mind to have it. Never know what might come out to utilize it. Remember, no contract so pay as you need it

If you have the option to tether I would go wifi and spend the extra cash on a bigger memory card or accessories. I actually just got 4gb with wifi as I use my iPhone for music and I would use my laptop if I wanted to watch a movie. The vita is just for gaming for me.

Somebody on here bought it a few days ago but if he reviewed it I missed it.

I have it. Plays well, graphics are great. Very similar to other Virtua Tennis games, not a lot of innovation, but solid. I like it.

Vita gives me control of my T.V. again. Otherwise I would be stuck watching American Idol, Toddlers and Tiaras, The Bachelor, The Duggers, or the Sprout network.

Vita gave me my T.V. back.

I just made a Vita purchase on a whim. I have got to get fifa for it. So far I only have the new UC game. It is pretty amazing looking for a handheld. So far everything looks sleek and I am a little blown away.

Any game recommendations? I dont care if it's for vita or downloadable psp games as I never really owned a psp.

                              Thanks guys!
