I think this is dependent on Sony's willingness or ability to cut the price, and I don't think they have much of either.

Analysts are expecting them to sell over 4m this year, and predict as much as 12m if they cut the price.

If the 3DS continues to outsell the vita 5+ to 1 in Japan it will never be a favorable comparison if a similar story unfolds here.

Here is the kicker, Sony isn't going to reduce the price anytime this year as it is already being sold at cost. Many are not realizing that nor are they taking into the equation that the 3DS is not as powerful as the PSVita. Sony knows that so I wouldn't be surprised if they waited until next Christmas to start offering better incentives. Japan vs United States = two different markets. What may end up being offered in Japan may not happen until much later here in the U.S.A.

Comes down to publisher support, marketing, and price... Sony has the support out of the gate (or do they, is EA tentative and thats why your FIFA franchise mode(s) don't have similar features as the Show?) but will have work to keep it, I think they have a lot to prove on the other 2 points still. The early adopter sales are no surprise, what will be very telling is how long it takes to get to 2 million, and how long it takes for Sony to get an opportunity to boast about sales again (or if they change their tune and start reporting 'shipped' numbers).

Japan is a very different beast, a lot of games come out there that never see the light of day here, they have much more of an affinity for handhelds. The 3DS is outselling the next couple consoles combined there so far this year, while it's primary competition thus far in the US is the 360. I think you missed the '...if a similar story unfolds here' part.

As for marketing, Sony has done little to emphasize the power of the Vita unfortunately, I don't think the current ads are very effective... someone walking around and then a single feature like '3G gaming' and no additional details? They seem hesitant to plainly describe and show that it is nearly as powerful as a PS3 in your hand. As a result I wouldn't be surprised if there are gamers that think it's just a revised PSP.

You want Japan? Get monster hunter. 3DS has monster hunter. Vita doesn't. The end.

I love my ps vita and have no complaints whatsoever ...even signed up for the At & T service which i vowed i would never do but since i dont have wi fi at home...

But as far as finding that little groove to actually open the little door it is a little annoying..not a deal breaker by any means but i have on several occasions had to grab something to get it open or try a few times to open it. Wish it had a button or a slide thing to pop it open but then agin that could cause more problems in the long run

Me and my brother were talking the other nie and it just seems Sony is horrible at marketing these things.

We both agreed that with the Vita and the PS3 the commercials on TV do nothing to sway someone to buy these things.

I dont know why someone as powerful as Sony cant do competent marketing.

Broke down and bought it, got the Wifi, with a screen protector (tried, but it wont go on without looking horrible) the triggers, fifa 12, and pre orderd The Show, paid it all off, so i got it all for 408 bucks, but 214 of it was from trading in games.

Anyone having compatibility issues with their Vita's content manager and their computer's OS, specifically Vista? I downloaded the content manager assistant and installed it to my computer however my computer would not recognize the Vita.

Did an internet search on the subject and found that others with Vista are having issues as well. Seems as if it's a driver issue and there is a fix but I followed on guy's directions and it didn't work. Ended up calling Sony's customer service and the call taker had no knowledge of the problem, told me to change operating systems on my computer and try it. I didn't want to go to all that trouble, luckily I have a laptop at the house running Windows 7 and had no problem with getting it to work on that.

So just a heads up with people who have Vista, you may encounter problems.
