    Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion

Maybe it's just late and I feel like typing this thought out, but I think the synergy needs to be more complex and yet natural.

    Take Madden for example.

The strategy I would want to see for it would be 'Connected Everywhere'

On tablets and smartphones: A free or low cost app to manage rosters, league settings, XP points, social elements. Some mechanical things like free agency and the draft too. Create teams, maybe take photos with your camera to create stadium posters, whatever.

On Vita: Most of the capabilities of the tablet apps, but also be able to do some training and other drills with squads of your players for some benefit. Offense, defense, 7-on-7, 1-on-1, etc. If possible, games should also be playable, but that necessitates a full price title then, which is OK too where it makes sense. So on the go let me maintain my team and activity in my CCM with mini games and whatnot, at a reduced price like $10. Or this comes with the Vita version of the full game if it can run and work well with the console version.

On the Consoles: Most of the above, in addition to the expected.

Now take that approach and apply it to other games. Social and mini games on the portables and handhelds... full games where it makes sense on the handheld, and the full console experience on the core hardware.

This then translates naturally to the next generation of consoles which will further outclass the Vita hardware by comparison.

Blur the line between 'app' and 'i want to be a console game' with a dozen shades of gray. Let reviewers distinguish between diamonds in the rough and 'horse armor'.

I am sure there are a lot of problems with this approach, but it feels like more than what they're doing now... and something like this that is flexible and worthwhile will increase consumer spend on both hardware and software across multiple platforms, as well as provide additional marketing opportunities to spur that growth/adoption with cross-promotional discounts/vouchers for pre-orders, ordering one or more from the platforms, etc.

Of course I love the games I have so far and look forward to what the future holds.

Also, the psp didn't get much 3rd party support either and I still played the heck out of it on vacations.

This bad boy seems 1,000 times better to me, considering I have Netflix on it along with a nice host of other features my trusty psp didn't have.

And for once in a long time I'm still playing my Yankees MLB the show season this late in the year.

On both systems I might add...
I'm not sure of the timeframes, so this may not be a fair comparison, but PSP had multiple versions of GTA, multiple versions of Burnout, more than one choice for hockey, baseball and basketball, a college football game and other fun games like Twisted Metal, Pursuit Force and Chili Con Carnage. Vita falls so far short in comparison it isn't funny. I am hopeful that support from third party developers will grow as the Vita lives on, but, for now, the comparison is not a good one for the Vita.

Remember the Vita has only been out for 7 months. Too early to throw the towel in on this system.

very much agree, I mean if we are sitting here 2 years later and no progress, then we have a problem, but for 7 months, I think the system has fared better then what its getting credit for.

When I play the Vita more then my consoles, it says something to be.

I'm being patient, because I'm hoping to hear that NBA 2k will be released for the Vita along with NCAA football and NHL, if these titles are announced next year, the Vita maybe my only primary system period.

Rainbow Moon, Sly Cooper, MLB the show for me. But that's just the first quarter. It kinda works out to my usual a 1-game-a-month buying habits.

Its this phone man lol... I meant Sony needs to lower the prices.and the vita is being treated by some like its supposed to compete with the 360.

Calling it dead 2 months in because of that is a bit much

Bottom line is, its really the most powerful handheld to date, and this little machine that could can really shine with the correct support. I will tell you for myself that if every game that came out on the consoles was available on the Vita, I would play the Vita version over the consoles. Only reason I love mobility, again that's just for me. I'm not even that interesting in the next wave of next gen consoles. Because even though we have seen great games this gen, I honestly think I have been more disappointing more so then happy.

People who know my history, even as insane as its been, I have learned my lesson. I'm not jumping to get any new console when the hype comes. I'm content as we speak with the all 3 systems, and that's including the Vita. I play the Vita more then my consoles and truly enjoy it more. People and companies and I'm not saying you, do not seem to grasp that the Vita is a power house respectively in its own right. With what I has seen and played so far the more 3rd party companies who get involved could really make the Vita something to reckon with. Bottom line, with most need 3rd party support at this moment the Vita can Hold its own and then some.

I work in the Technology field in IT, and I have never thought about given up on the Vita. Reason being, I know when the games companies start supporting the Vita they will realize that the Vita can push some great games and great looking games too.

With the likes of The Show/Uncharted/Madden I have seen flashes of greatness in the Vita. All I have to say is lets wait and see.

Typing on phones can be a PITA if you ask me at times. It is still kind of early, but my concern is that we haven't heard about many titles for 2013 yet. Playstation Mobile has kicked off in a few countries this past week and some people are saying that a few of the games released are really cool. Prices range from $ .49 - $7.49 and there is talk of possibly integrating trophies into the PSM releases.

Got mine near launch and have ABSOLUTELY no intention of selling it anytime soon.

I've enjoyed every game I've gotten so far for it.

This is what we have for the rest of the year, which in actuality is not too bad. This doesn't include the PSM releases that will be coming in the next few months.
