You do not need much more than that on the small screen... especially when it is mainly used for game interactions.

You don't buy a portable game console for a picture capture device IMO.

1.3 megapixels may not be much, considering that the new smartphones have cameras with 3.0 pixels resolution, but let’s face it: the camera is not the most important characteristic of a gaming console. A few games will use it, and you might need it to take pictures of your friends from time to time but the specs of the cameras are more than enough to create an enjoyable experience for the player.
Not to mention there is two of them. Keeping the cost down with that sacrifice is sufficient. The RAM stays up there which is a good thing.

I agree. I will gladly sacrifice camera quality for more ram/cheaper console.

I didn't buy my iPad 2 for the camera, but every time I use it it's an embarrassment. My experience wi that is why I'm posting that.

I saw the quote about 3.0mp cameras in phones, Sony write that or something? Standard is 5+, has been for years.

Spotted at Sony's TGS booth, this fine copy of Uncharted for the upcoming PlayStation Vita. I like the blue! it also blends in nicely with the newer PS3 game boxes.

            Before people speculate on size...

It appears to be roughly an inch taller than two iPhones side by the size some people came up with using SD Card comparisons.

They have not, but they should be the same as the PSP now, and 3DS.

                Gamestop has it listed...

                  Interesting article:

PSVita battery life could br similar to 3DS

People want all sorts of features from these devices...they gotta get their power from somewhere, and yet be portable.

                    Re: PSVITA Handheld Information

Proprietary memory card pricing is outrageous...

Here are the sizes of the memory sticks that will be available, next to the price in Yen and then an approximate value in dollars. Buckle up.
                    • Memory Card 4GB ¥2,200 $29
                    • Memory Card 8GB ¥3,200 $42
                    • Memory Card 16GB ¥5,500 $71
                    • Memory Card 32GB ¥9,500 $124

Those prices are something else, and show the value of using your own proprietary formats; if Sony allowed the system to use standard memory in its system, you could buy a 32GB stick for around a third of that price, if not less. Depending on the size of the more expansive Vita games with high-quality textures, we could be looking at a substantial premium if you download the games, after taking into account the high cost of the memory you'll need to buy for storage.

You can not do direct conversions, because Japanese prices are ALWAYS higher on hardware and software. It is never a direct conversion. You would think these sites would "get that" by now. Been this way for over 20 years.

Also there will be third party sticks from companies like SanDisk at HALF to 1/3 the price. Always is like this.

And the battery life is not bad considering the power this thing is pushing. To use the 3DS in any kind of worth is the same battery life. Smart phones do not last any longer, people always have them plugged in. So why would a 8 core (4CPU/4GPU) machine not see the same?

I never understood battery life complaints on portable game machines. I can never see myself playing for more than 1-2 hours a sitting, tops. Then if I am, more than likely I am near a power source, thus you plug it in. Keep it plugged in when not in use.

LOL! What is wrong with these dudes, I don't think they ever learn from their own mistakes or the ones Nintendo made with the 3DS. It's like Nintendo screwed up with the 3DS and here is a chance for the Vita to make a splash, but they find a way to jack things up.

If your phone only lasts as little as 3 hours, you need a new battery/phone.

                            ORLY?

Cause sitting using an iPhone or a Droid 3 hours straight you are telling me it will last longer?

Not a chance. Stand by just sitting there does not count.

Who goes 3 straight hours though? I can use my iPhone pretty regularly in a long day sitting, and make it last 5-6 hours easy, and thats with listening to music, watching videos etc.

You don't always have to be so defensive to everything Sony PlayStation, people are allowed to have other opinions.

I thought the same thing, then realized 3 hours of solid use (CPU/GPU heavy gaming) is probably about right.

Sony still needed to do a little better on the battery IMO, at least hopefully they make a higher capacity battery.

As for memory card prices, they are about the same prices Sony charges for their brand of SD cards on their site (jp.sonystyle.com), and the 32GB is cheaper than a 32GB SD card. How it shakes out in the marketplace we will have to see (they actually look a lot like memory stick micro, not that it helps considering you can't fit a microsd converter in that space). I can understand Sony's position though, they do need to make money somewhere.
