Mortal Kombat to utilize touch screen fatalities.

The PlayStation Vita version of Mortal Kombat is said to have all of the content from the console version plus some additional features. For example, the Vita MK will allow you to use the touchscreen to perform fatalities on your opponent....

In terms of gameplay, we’ve always wanted MK to be as accessible as possible," said Netherrealm Studios creative director Ed Boon on PlayStation.Blog. "For example, you can touch your X-ray meter to execute an X-ray attack. For fatalities, you can “slash” the screen with the appropriate inputs — say, away, away, up — to execute the fatality. It makes some of the more difficult fatalities easier and it’s fun to slash at your screen to fire off a fatality. I was surprised by how engaging it is."

Down to 18.3k sold in Japan last week and inched past the 500k mark since launch. Gamasutra also predicting a rough spring/summer for the Vita in the US as people wait for the inevitable price drop.

Frankly, I don't hold out much hope for the PlayStation Vita. The handheld market appears to be extremely price-conscious – or more precisely value-conscious – and I don't think Sony has justified the value of its new handheld in a way that will make it cross over from the hardcore to the mass market. Remember, the question is not so much whether other handhelds are better than the Vita in terms of games or price, but whether they are good enough to fill someone's needs. I expect the middle of 2012 to be very unkind to the PS Vita, but it should at least sell better this year than the PSP did in 2011.

That's 100% OK as long as you realize that 3rd party support could fall off pretty quickly if this does what it's done in Japan so far... soak up some eager early adopters and then get outsold 5+:1 by the 3DS.

If it does as analysts expect it will be interesting to see if they wait and entire quarter for E3 to drop the price.

I'm 50/50 on getting Vita at launch. I really want one and currently have it pre-ordered, but I would have to miss out on most games I'm interested in getting on PS3 the first few months. If it wasn't for the memory cards, I would definitely get one - 4GB and 8GB just aren't going to cut it for me.

Im getting it in late March. I have a 3 week school in Virginia for most of April so I'll buy it for that and obviously when I go on my boat.

I think it's funny to read the articles about Vita sales dropping below 20,000 last week when every single console had their sales cut in half. Yes it is a concern but last week was just a horrible sales week for every system over there.

I love this thing regardless, on chapter 9 right in uncharted, have had been busy has the day off the day off today, so played alot, game is really good, hope they make more in the series on vital.

Joking aside though, it sounds like you're really enjoying Uncharted. I preordered that and Hot Shots for launch... can't WAIT to play them. Let us know what you think of the game once you've finished, I've heard nothing but good things so far.

Lol....yeah man its really good and the touch screen in integration is really new and works so well. I don't know what if is about mobile gaming, but when I put the headphones I'm so more intune, still can't believe the graphics in this game.
