It remains my primary gaming platform. I still play my PS4 some, but the majority of my gaming is the Vita. Mostly Madden 13, MLB 15 and Need for Speed Most Wanted. I had great hopes for the Nintendo Switch, but no baseball, football or hockey games. I plan to ride it out until there is another platform that works better for me (and, given the growth of mobile phone gaming, the idea of a dedicated mobile gaming platform is probably dead).

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Who's still using their Vita in 2019? Any specific plans for the system?
I'm determined to finish my Orioles season in MLB 14. We're 2 games out of the second Wild Card with 12 games to go. I'll play MLB 15 on occasion, and also go all the way back to MLB 12 for some classic rosters.
I need to finally play Tearaway, a game I've owned for several years, but just never got around to checking out. I also have MGS 2 on the MGS HD Collection to replay, Soul Sacrifice and a few other games. I also want to revisit Uncharted and Gravity Rush.
A physical copy of PSY 15 is ridiculously expensive at this point though. Expect to pay more than $100.
A new version is coming soon though! Hopefully it will be out sometime in March or April.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I mostly use it for PS4 Remote Play, Zen Pinball, and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
I would gladly get a Power Pros or PYS game on that if they had translations, more so the former as it really seems to fit right with that system.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Man, I would love PYS if it had an English version. I tried it out, but just could not deal with the language barrier.Comment

I have this game on my Vita and it’s pretty nice. I can deal with the commentary being in a different language, it just adds some extra flavor too it. I guess the commentary never gets old cause I don’t understand what they say anyway.

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I have PYS 2013 for PS3, and used the same site. It just didn't work enough for something like a franchise mode, though. There are far too many menus and scenarios.
That game also irked me a bit because you couldn't adjust separate audio settings, and sound effects were just jacked up way too high for my liking; they of course address this the very next year with separate sliders. But you're right with the commentary, I love the sound of it even though I don't know what they're saying.

Pretty crazy how the PSY Vita version has individual team uniforms for the allstar game. Western sports game devs claim it's not possible, even on PS4.Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
I'm unable to read through 900+ pages so figured I'd just ask:
If I buy a Vita now can I play Fifa and The Show remotely if they're on my ps4? Like play all the way, career mode etc with the ability to save on the go? Sounds almost too good to be true which is why I'm surprised they're no longer made. What's the catch?
Thanks in advance.Comment

I don't know what you mean by "on the go" though, because you'll definitely need a wireless connection if you're not in your own house. I get the most stable connection with most reduced lag when connected through a wireless tether to my PS4 (no WiFi needed).
In fact, below is a video of me playing MLB 15: The Show (Vita vs. PS4 Remote Play). Skip to about 7:30 if you just want to see RP in action.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fEWYfHMZDhM" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
It's virtually identical to playing on my plasma screen when it comes to reduced lag. If you normally play on a monitor or something, you'll feel there is a difference... but for certain games it's really a non-issue. Remember, I also played Everybody's Golf on this thing, and you need a good timing window for that.

What I mean is this... the Vita only has one pair of shoulder buttons and its thumbsticks aren't clickable. So to get buttons like L2/R2 and L3/R3, they get mapped to either parts of the front touchscreen and/or parts of the rear touchpad.
The PS4 home screen maps them all to the front touchscreen (in the four corners), so I'll call that the default. I believe that The Show does this as well, but since I don't often use L2/R2 for anything on the fly this is a non-issue (I can change jump/dive to one button in the options menu if I have to). That configuration sort of looks like this:
Another one that many games feature, such as some FIFA demos that I have played, have those four button presses available on the four corners of the rear touchpad. This is slightly better when it comes to actual gameplay, but unless you have the attachment from Japan that adds the trigger buttons this doesn't come very easy. That means sprinting in FIFA becomes a chore unless you swap R1 and R2 in a control scheme somewhere. Before you recommend changing these on PS4 or on the Vita (because you can now do that), that doesn't get reflected in Remote Play. Only you will be able to decide whether you like the feel of this or not.
The entire front touchscreen also serves as the PS4's touchpad. I remember when I got NBA 2K16 and was trying to do clockwise spin moves that I always ended up calling timeout, and couldn't figure out why. I found out that the tiniest little follicles on the skin of my thumb would graze the bottom right corner of he glass on my Vita screen, and call a timeout as if I pressed in the PS4 controller's center touchpad. It was kind of funny actually, but it made me disable that button entirely and reserve timeouts for the pause screen.
Anyway, that control scheme looks a bit like this:
Developers which actually pay attention to this with their games earn a lot of my respect and get a lot of RP play time from me, because there is actually a third control scheme which I first noticed in GTA V that places R2/L2 as the shoulder buttons, R3/L3 on the front corners of the touchscreen, and R1/L1 as halves of the rear touchscreen. Ultimately, it's the finest combination for most games. That control scheme looks like this:
Some games even recognize when I switch into RP from just playing on my PS4, and will change things like my audio preset from home theater to headphones or something, and sometimes change the shoulder button control scheme for me knowing that something like shooting or sprinting will have to be re-mapped. I love when they do this, and always note this in first impressions of new games that I play.
I love the thing, though. I hope you do consider getting one! Remote Play was the reason I got a PS4 in the first place.Last edited by Blzer; 02-15-2019, 09:08 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Yes.
It's the full game. You can't go on certain apps and change certain PS4 home settings when using the Remote Play option, and broadcast recording is disabled if you enable 60 FPS... but otherwise everything is completely accessible in-game.

No real catch to speak of, however some developers lazily don't think about the Vita when it comes to providing us with a new control scheme if we need it. The Show doesn't fall victim to this, but FIFA might depending on what you can/can't change in game.

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Then on your Vita, in the Remote Play home screen (before connecting), for best image you'll want to set the Quality to 540p and the Framerate to 60 FPS.
By the way, I was referring to trigger grips earlier as well. You may want to look into them (don't just buy any set, as some are awful and others are great). Some of them completely improve the ergonomics of the device, both with regard to control and comfort. Then again, some do not.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Sony PSVITA Discussion
Having a lot of trouble connecting away from home. In the home it's spotty, sometimes great sometimes awful. Away from home this morning it said my connection speed wasn't fast enough. Pretty frustrating. My ps4 is wirelessly connected at the moment and from what I've read a wired connection will help; problem is my ps4 is downstairs and the modem is upstairs. I'll keep trying different options and testing. The concept is awesome.Comment

You'll never have a snowball's chance with out-of-home stability using a wireless connection. It would have to be wired. I get 1000/100 wired with fiber optic.
Again, I don't want to deceive you at all. I hope everything works out for you. As you saw from my video, it works out for me but I tend to be in the same room as the console (in my old house though, it would be in my bedroom right above me when I was downstairs in the family room, and I've done it in my new house with the PS4 in the living room and me in my bedroom).
