Re: Gaming headsets
Hearing someone saying bass means nothing actually elicits laughter from you?
How about treble?
Seriously though, sure I don't mind a bit of decent, punchy bass. It makes all the explosions, firearms, etc more visceral. I'm more than sure that the bass I'll be getting out of the Plats will be more than sufficient for me.
The only time I'm using my headset anyways is when I'm playing online games and I'm in party chat. Mainly shooters.
Yea it actually does elicit laughter because it's kinda silly to me and anyone who appreciates good sound. Treble is just as important as bass. Don't think I like overpowering bass that just creates boomy sound. I like tight bass and treble that's properly balanced. I have a nice surround sound system at home and made sure I invested in a good subwoofer when I got it a while back. Now I'm trying to upgrade my system to Atmos. When bass is severely lacking the sound isn't immersive especially for shooters and that's one of the problems I have with the golds.
There's nothing worse than when I hear a car bumping some loud music and all you hear are tweeters. Sounds like clock radio speakers. In all honesty I'm going to pick up the plats to test them out myself, but I was honestly hoping to at least hear the bass was decent not weak. I'll test them out for myself and decide if I will keep them after I try them out.

Re: Gaming headsets
I agree with you. I fee the Astros are a bit too much on the bass side. The mids and highs suffer because of it. I think something between the Astros and the golds would be a good balance.

Re: Gaming headsets
I don't think the Astro's have too much bass, but I do feel they are too "warm." If that's what you're describing as too much bass, I don't know... I've played with low-pass mixers too much to say this is just a matter of having those values jacked. It's not that it is boomy, if that's what you are trying to describe. It's not my favorite sound type coming out of there, but I'd prefer being too warm over being too bright when it comes to headphones.
I'd rather wear my studio headphones, but they don't elicit the same surround environment like the A50's do and they don't have a microphone. Did I pay too much for a headset? Absolutely, but they certainly get their usage as well.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Gaming headsets
Is the $50 more price tag worth it? Those of you wrestling with the decision on which to go with, (the PS Gold or PS Platinum), here is a good video that helped me make that decision.

Re: Gaming headsets
I've been using the wired Turtle Beach PX22's for the last 2-years and love them. The sound quality is great but I'm no audiophile. I mostly like the ability to hear myself when in party chat or broadcasting on Twitch. The microphone is pretty bad ash.
They are under $70 bucks and are compatible with PC, and PS3/4.

Re: Gaming headsets
For those of you who maybe want something different than Turtle Beach or Astro, look into SteelSeries. Their headsets are very comfortable and sound amazing. I just picked up the RGB set for my PC but it works with my console as well. If you play games for long hours at a time, I'd recommend them.

Re: Gaming headsets
I just got the Hyperx Pro Silvers today from Amazon. Just played some Battlefield and really like them so far. But I'm noticing some cut out. They sound great, but getting intermittent sound cut out. I assume that's not normal. But I've never used a set that plugs into the controller.
I really don't want to return them. I've literally had to return two defective laptops in the last few weeks and a defective PS4 Pro. I just need something to freakin work right.
Edit: I found something that said to reset the controller and its a night and day difference. Played a whole game of 2K and it only cut once for like a tenth of a second.
These things are so comfortable. I've had them on my head for two hours and they still feel great.Last edited by PVarck31; 02-28-2017, 03:31 AM.Comment

Been really happy with the Sony golds. The mic isn't perfect but good enough and the sound is good too. We baby it so I haven't seen any cracks or issues with the plastic.Comment

Re: Gaming headsets
I hope they stay working. The cord with out HyperX Cloud 2 was cheap. The rest of the headset was great. Great sound and comfortable. But the cord wears away over time. First headset had sound cutting out at 3 months and quit. Replacement lasted one month and quit. But at least we got our money back after that.

Re: Gaming headsets
Do you guys think the plats represent a big enough jump over the gold's for a purchase? I am kind of breaking my own rule here, I should go through this thread and see if this has been covered yet, I apologize for being lazy.
From a couple reviews I have read it sounds like the plats are basically Golds 2.0. A little crisper sound, better mic, more durable. Is that about right?Last edited by The JareBear; 03-03-2017, 09:25 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."
