Looking to get a new headset for PC gaming. A nice surround sound for BF1 in both left and right for that immersive feel is nice, but comfort is really what I'm going for. What's the best headphone for both comfort and quality?

Re: Gaming headsets
I got the Star Wars Turtle Beaches from two years ago at Best Buy for $29.99 and use them daily, never had a single issue. Last gen I only used Turtle Beach as well, just had the best luck with them. They are only stereo but still sound great for my ears. Plus they are orange which is my favorite color lol
I wear glasses and forget these headphones are even on. The Gold's would hurt after 30 mins. I loved the sound the gold's had but felt it was ridiculous they didn't build in the receiver for them. Sold them off several months ago since they collected dust.

I have an old one that I used to use with my TBs. It works great.

Re: Gaming headsets
Yeah, the Golds sounded great but after an hour or so they were like having my head in a vice grip.
So far I can say the Astro's are one of the most comfortable headsets I've ever used. Same with the Clouds as well. Both are fantastic.
I played Battlefield last night for a while and the Show, with the Astros, never had to take them off once.
And playing Battlefield with the Astro's is really where they shine. With the 7.1 I could hear the location of everything happening.
I know expensive headsets don't always equal better. Some people swear by the Sades headsets which are like $20-30.
I'd do some extensive research before dropping $200 to $300+ on a headset, you can get far better audio quality for that price range without buying a gimmick or "back of box selling point". An example of this would be mouse DPI, every manufacture throws on the box "6000 DPI!!!!" or some crazy high DPI as if that makes a good mouse, instead its just fluff which is pointless.
I'd suggest a great pair of beyerdynamic DT 990's for that price range all day. Extreme comfort, open back for position audio, and great drivers for the minor details in sound you will miss with the others.

My favorite headset is a wired Razer Carcharias older PC set. They have these velvet type over ear cups that feel awesome. I wear them for work and web meetings and they never feel too tight. I'll game with them sometimes but usually too lazy to grab them from my work bag or home office desk.
I need another headset (wired now) like that...comfort > sound to me...can't stand ones that grip my head tightly at allNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Gaming headsets
Its a little to deep for a simple response but all "surround" headsets are simply virtually trying to simulate surround sound. A good pair of openback cans in default 2ch stereo will perform just as well with location audio as a simulated 7:1. Like I said its slightly to deep for right here but many high end audiophiles agree that even default 2ch will out perform a "surround" sound headset.

Re: Gaming headsets
I appreciate the suggestions but I already bought the Astro A40 TR. Got it on an Amazon Warehouse deal for $170. It was listed in like new condition and it still had the plastic on everything. So I think it was a good deal. Everything sounds great to me so I'm happy with it.
* Headsets (ones which have built in mics or wireless) are built for the console or couch crowd. Ease of use, no wires, and sound which will satisfy 99%, gives them excellent value for what they supply. They won't excel in any area of comfort, sound, or positional audio but they will offer no wires to get in the way & a mic to communicate with your teammates.
* Headphones naturally built solely for supplying detailed sound covered in specific frequencies will give you a more detail sound experience. The suggestion of these over headsets are mainly for people in PC type situations where cables are not a problem and a separate mic can be set up.
Now what I'd like to make clear, I don't suggest high-end headphones for their sound detail, that to me is a minor pro. Instead I suggest them because of open back positional audio & comfort. Until someone experiences a excellent open back headphone they can't truly wrap their head around the difference between them & a closed back headset.
I'd compare a closed back headset to someone with a head cold with bad nasal congestion. Its almost a stuffy sound when compared to the airiness aka clear headed sound of an open back. This isn't only amazing in gaming for positional audio but when you listen to live music, its truly a wonderful experience.
Comfort is pretty self explanatory.
So I've seen you been through the ringer when it has come to headsets Pvarck, if you have any hang ups with the A40s & need some help picking out a different pair, just let me know man. I'd be more than happy to lend a hand.Comment

Re: Gaming headsets
NOT Astro A50s. Mine are just over a year old and battery is DEAD. Only lasts about 3 minutes.. Lol. Astro said "sorry" and I can ship it to them to fix for $75.. $300 headset lasted 15 months with light use? Lame.
Edit: Ugh, after looking at my options, I think I HAVE to get it fixed for the $75. I can't just have a dead A50 set. I'll let y'all know how it works out..PSN: jaydazzle

Yup same here. I'm going to see if Amazon allows me to return mine. These settings should be saving at this point.
