    Re: Gaming headsets

Have to return my plats. Streamed on twitch tonight and it was almost a constant hissing and popping. Audio kept cutting in and out and it actually completely disconnected from the system three times.

Now I gotta find something else.

    Any other recommendations?

I ended up buying the Hyperx Cloud II. I really wanted the plats to be be good man. Maybe it was just my set, but I didn't want to risk it again. Been through three headsets in the last couple months.

Went with the Cloud II mostly because of the fantastic reviews and a couple recommendations. I just hope I don't miss the virtual surround. I'm not an audiophile so I think I'll be ok. And I think I will probably be using these to stream a lot more now so I'm sure they will be good for that.

I just hope that cord doesn't cut out after a couple months. Both mine died and I was very disappointed.

NOT Astro A50s. Mine are just over a year old and battery is DEAD. Only lasts about 3 minutes.. Lol. Astro said "sorry" and I can ship it to them to fix for $75.. $300 headset lasted 15 months with light use? Lame.

Edit: Ugh, after looking at my options, I think I HAVE to get it fixed for the $75. I can't just have a dead A50 set. I'll let y'all know how it works out..

Any good mic out there for the PS4 that has a detachable cable?

The cable that plugs the headset into the ps4 controller. Looking for one that is detachable from the headset.

                    Re: Gaming headsets

I bought a splitter and a clip on mic to use with one of our normal headsets. It actually worked but too many cords. It's sloppy.

At the end of the day a wireless headset is the nicest, even if it doesn't satisfy the pure audio guys out there. The Gold headset is a perfectly nice headset for the PS4 and as long as you don't have a big head and crack the plastic. I would recommend that over any other contraption or headset I've tried (Tritton, Cloud 2 and one other I can't remember). It goes on sale a decent amount and isn't too expensive either.

Bought some Liquid Sound LS30 but the game sound only comes from one side. The right side is nothing. I'm just playing the Show not chatting. Saw where switching from chat to all audio should have fixed it but it didn't. Any suggestions?

                        Re: Gaming headsets

So I snagged a pair of Astro A40 TR's with mix amp for $170 on an Amazon warehouse deal. Description said like new and no signs of wear.

Just opened them up and everything still had the plastic on it. Cords were neatly kept and not a mark on anything. Set it up and is working great. Played a round of Battlefield 1 and my god these things are amazing. Hearing things in all directions is a game changer.

EDIT: So the headset itself sounds amazing, I'm streaming the show on twitch and the chat audio is horrible. Keeps cutting out. Can't even get a full sentence in. Couple people said they just couldn't understand me because it was cutting out so bad.

Any possible fix for this? Kinda disappointing for a headset this expansive.

Still have the Cloud II's for when I don't feel like dragging the Astros out since there are so many cords and I have to keep it in a drawer because I have cats.

Lmao you're gonna end up with 14 headsets with not a pair working properly if seems.

                          Good luck tho.

lol I know man. It's crazy and I'm probably crazy too.

But the good news is I got it fixed. I went into the Astro software program and changed the mic to streaming mode and it was perfect after that.

I got the Star Wars Turtle Beaches from two years ago at Best Buy for $29.99 and use them daily, never had a single issue. Last gen I only used Turtle Beach as well, just had the best luck with them. They are only stereo but still sound great for my ears. Plus they are orange which is my favorite color lol

I wear glasses and forget these headphones are even on. The Gold's would hurt after 30 mins. I loved the sound the gold's had but felt it was ridiculous they didn't build in the receiver for them. Sold them off several months ago since they collected dust.

Yeah, the Golds sounded great but after an hour or so they were like having my head in a vice grip.

So far I can say the Astro's are one of the most comfortable headsets I've ever used. Same with the Clouds as well. Both are fantastic.

I played Battlefield last night for a while and the Show, with the Astros, never had to take them off once.

And playing Battlefield with the Astro's is really where they shine. With the 7.1 I could hear the location of everything happening.

I know expensive headsets don't always equal better. Some people swear by the Sades headsets which are like $20-30.
