Picked up Splatoon, the Boy Inkling Amiibo, and the Pac Man Amiibo today.

Amiibos ate still in their boxes as I've been addicted to playing and learning the Splatoon mechanics. Great game. Wow.

I know it didn't get much love but man Madden 13 WiiU is fun for me.
Love the play calling from the gamepad as well as the ability to draw routes.
I do limit myself to 1 a play though.
Game is not as smooth as PS/MS systems but it's smooth enough to enjoy.

Seriously considering buying a Wii U, I have both PS4 and X1 and at the moment nothing is really doing it for me. I've been obsessed with Destiny for the past few months and it's time to start moving away from it. I usually love sports games but I'm not impressed with any of them this year.

I do own a 3DS XL and have always loved the Pokemon series and Mario Kart. Splatoon looks pretty appealing and just plain fun. What are some of your recommendations for the Wii U and is it worth the purchase?

Yep. My PS4 and WiiU (3DS also) give me a full range of what I want. Waiting to see what E3 brings as far as the X1 as I want one but hoping for some deals plus there is supposedly a Halo Edition coming.

For the WiiU:
ZombiU is an underated title.When you die you start again at last safe house with a diffeent character but it's really satisfying when you advance.

Wind Waker HD
SMB 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Pikmin 3
Rayman Legends if you haven't played yet
Lego City Undercover (Main negative are load times)
I also like the fun little game of Scribblenauts

Others that some really like but I haven't played:
Splatoon
Monster Hunter 3
DK Tropical Freeze (I played but wasn't for me)
Sonic All Star Racing
Supre Smash Brothers

I think it's definitely worth it. $300 with two games is a great deal. If you include a bunch of wiimotes, nunchuks, pro controllers...it can get rather pricey though.


The bundled games - Mario 3d world is awesome. nintendoland is one of my favorite multiplayer games ever.


Splatoon sounds great. Wonderful 101 is a very good game. Mario Kart and Smash Bros are classics as usual.


If you want to shell out the money for multiple wiimotes, nunchuks, or pro controllers (depending on the game), Nintendoland, Wii Party U, and to a slightly lesser extent Mario Party 10 are all good multiplayer games. Pikmin 3 was pretty decent, DK Tropical Freeze is a good one. And can play all the wii games you may have missed.


You may mostly get only exclusives, but they are all very good games and I think the system is worth the money for those alone.

I only have exclusives on my wii u. It's worth it. I wish I could say I play it more than I do though. It's a time issue though not a console issue.

Awesome and prompt feedback from everyone, I greatly appreciate it. Honestly I'd be buying it mostly for myself for now so I probably wouldn't get extra controllers, probably closer to winter I'd pick up some extras for my wife too.

It just looks like pure fun, gotta love Nintendo...classic

I would just start with the game pad and a pro controller. You can always pick up wii motes later if you need them. I went without a wii mote until I started buying old wii games. Also I picked up wii party u and it came with a wii mote for like 35 bucks. This was a while ago. Can probably find that bundle for cheaper now.

I have a PS4 and X1 as well (360 for NCAA Football 14) and I regret nothing about my purchase last month. Loving MK and Mario World, picked up Splatoon today. WiiU and it's titles really brings out the kid in me when I just want to have fun.

Might be a dumb question and I have not googled much about it yet as I'm at work (can you tell where my mind is right now hahaha video games) but can you get like old nintendo games through the E-Shop on the Wii U similar like you can on the DS?

the e shop just added some n64 games recently too.


not to mention, if you click over to the wii console menu, that still has the wii virtual console with more choices. Though you will need a wiimote/nunchuk/classic controller to use it.

Same here as well as Mario 64 and original Paper Mario (Wii virtual console)

And what was just said is really true..
WiiU just gives a stress free "I'm a kid again" type of feeling.

Check Best Buy too right now and compare trade in's as BB is currently having an extra 30% trade in deal. Just make sure they have the WiiU in stock..
