      Re: Wii U Discussion

Yep, someone's ALREADY waiting in line for a Wii U (which comes out November 18)

Isaiah-Triforce Johnson, who is actually named Isaiah-Triforce Johnson (I've seen his passport!), has made a name for himself as the first person to buy just about every piece of Nintendo hardware in recent history. He was the first to buy the Wii and the first to buy the 3DS. Now he wants to be first to buy the Wii U.

Johnson tweeted today that he's already camping out at the Nintendo World Store in midtown Manhattan in anticipation for the Wii U's launch on November 18. Almost a month in advance.

By the way, Wii U has a multicore ARM
in addition to the PPC. Seems like the
system has not only a lot of RAM, but
                  also substantial processing power
                  dedicated to OS level stuff.

My point has nothing to do with the graphics or horsepower of the system. While for others it might be their arguing point. In some aspects it is more powerful than the PS3 and 360, then in others it lags behind. Who really cares, this is how Nintendo has always ran their business. I don't blame them to a degree, if people are buying what their offering then they are making money and trying to sustain their business. My complaint was how cheap the gamepad felt and it really does. Now this company has always catered to kids and with the U, I think Nintendo is finally also going after that hardcore crowd. While the gamepad is cool with how its integrated, I can see this thing easily breaking if a kid drops it. I was disappointed that a gaming kiosk only had 1 game to showcase, "Rayman Legends", which BTW is awesome but has been delayed to Q1 2013. Why not show off your flagship title Mario or put the gamepad to use and also have a demo of ZombiU?

If Nintendo wants to play with the big boys, where are the achievements/trophies for games? This game chat thing really sucks. It has been a negative point for PS3 owners, you would think Nintendo would take that and not make the same mistake. It concerns me going into next gen with all 3 companies because I can see some of the same idiotic mistakes being made from this gen that has helped hold the industry back a bit.

I think they have to balance out sturdiness and weight. If you were holding a heavy gamepad for a long period of time your hands/arms would get tired, especially if you're a little kid.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just don't care one little bit about trophies. And I'm as hardcore as you get. I own every system and play all types of games. I play the games to have fun, if I get some random trophy for what I'm doing, great. If not, I never go out of my way to get trophies.

Besides, Nintendo is about innovation. For better or worse they would never add something like trophies to a system when the other two already have it.

Not everyone cares about trophies/achievments. I know I could care less about them. I know a lot of people do but that doesn't make or break a system for me.
It does seem dumb to not throw in a Mario demo etc..

My biggest "fear" is all the companies putting a ton of time and effort into the "Multi-media" crap. Just give me a gaming machine. Unfortunetly it seems that's what the future is all about.

I'm still excited for it but would love to get hands on something other than Rayman

3rd party support. Would prefer the services provided be the difference between systems for the most part. 3rd parties are going to make games for the lowest common denominator between the viable hardware with a few exceptions.

Wii and thus far the Vita are examples of how poorly 3rd parties support consoles that try and stray too far from the norm.
