Yes, the system is not a huge power box but again I don't think Nintendo ever will be.
    Yet they stick around.
Yup. The Wii has been far more profitable for Nintendo than the 360 and PS3 have been for MS and Sony. Nintendo made money on every system ever sold unlike the others which sold at a loss initially just to build a userbase.

Well they are in it to make money.

I just looked and if the data is correct. It wasn't until 4th quarter of 2011 before the Wii was not the leader is console sales.
So despite the lack of 3rd party support, they led in console sales every year before then.

Would think if the lack of 3rd party support was going to be a huge issue it would have hurt the console sales before 5 years out the gate.

I just don't think it's as big a deal as some think. Nintendo has a big thing going for them. Nintendo games.

It will be cool to see how it all pans out. I hope they are successfull as I do for all 3 of them. Last thing I want is fewer choices.

I want Nintendo to do their own (weird) thing because I own the other consoles and I want to have something different...I'll wind up buying the next Xbox and Playstation so let them do something crazy and let's see what happens. BTW never had a Nintendo product break on me so I'm not worried about the controller...different story with Sony and Microsoft.

I have no interest in this thing, I have Nintendo is pretty much dead to me now, but I will say that this won't be a problem. Nintendo takes care of their customers. I can't say their won't be shortages and paying over $100 to replace a controller is a real kick in the groin, but Nintendo customer service won't leave people out to dry.

Agree about the service. When my Wii's video card went out less than a month after getting it the service was great. They sent me a new Wii and had me return the bad one in the same box. Had the new system in less than a week.

Same here, my video card fried on mine about a year later which Nintendo was awesome about sending me another system and then I sent my old one back to them.

Contrary to pretty much everyone's belief, the Wii U will be sold at a loss:

"...The Wii U hardware will have a negative impact on Nintendo's profits early after the launch because rather than determining a price based on its manufacturing cost, we selected one that consumers would consider to be reasonable," he told investors yesterday when also discussing the company's fiscal outlook. Yesterday, the company downgraded its fiscal forecast for the year.

Yeah, a lot of sites have been reporting this. Kind of crazy to see this happening to Nintendo now between the 3DS and the U.

I have no clue how much profit they will or will not make. Just hope they succeed as they bring variety to the industry...and my Mario,Zelda etc needs.

That does look very good, wonder if Ubisoft can pull this game off on the PS3 with the Vita.

I played Xenoblade Chronicles and that game is the best game of this generation it trumps even the mass effect trilogy... So Im not akin to NON HD graphics only

Wow, Nintendo really loves its consumers? Now Apple, why didn't you do this for the iPad mini, you both got lots of money already and are household names so some people WILL buy the product just cause of the name. If Nintendo wants to lose money, just make sure it wasn't over $100 lost per console. I love Nintendo and its history (Mario, NBA 2K, Sonic, and Counter Strike [unrelated, but still..] are my favorite games of all time,) but I'm not gonna buy a Wii-U at launch, probably Christmas, ONLY IF the reviews from all of you are good. But they will survive, I mean Japan pays top notch compared to us I recall...

You can already see that on the current consoles, except half the draw of the game won't be missing.

Just in case people don't know what I'm referring to, the EA Sports games on Wii U won't have the physics engines.
