    Re: Wii U Discussion

Target has Scribblenauts Unlimited for 49.99 right now for Wii U.
Gamestop isn't taking reserves on it any longer and can only order online. When I searched prices I seen the target reduced price.

      Re: Wii U Discussion

I snatched up the last two pre-orders for the white version from Target last week after searching everywhere else. Anyone work at Target and have any clue of the quantity they might get in? I was told 5 of each unit was for pre-order. Hoping to get there early Sunday morning and secure a Black 32gb model instead. I figure worst case scenario, my son gets a white 8gb version for Christmas.

Why don't you reserve it and pick it up when you actually have to do something. Or have it come Christmas Morning or what Amazon offers....

Much like MLB The Show allows you to take screenshots, the Wii U will allow the same thing for its games.

The latest Iwata Asks reveals that gamers will be able to take a screenshot within a game and post the aforementioned screenshot to Miiverse. To do this you’ll need to press the Home button when you…

Sucks about no trophies/achievements. Really no reason NOT to have that. They would be perfect for the Marios and Mario Karts of the world.

Yeah it would be cool for those that like chasing them. I've never been one to like them especially since a lot are only achieved through online play... but again it would have been a good addition.

                        Re: Wii U Discussion

Admittedly I'm running the risk of coming off like a fanboy here, even though I own everything and play everything. But I love what Nintendo's doing by not having achievements, not catering to the game press etc.

I don't like achievements at all, and I think game reviews are worthless if you are serious about your hobby. I've had games that had great ratings that I hated, and games that were rated poorly that I loved.

I like that Nintendo isn't copying what other companies are doing, or listening to people saying what your console "has" to have to be successful. They have their own ideas and are trying to execute them and their ideas are usually great. Their games are a lot of fun to play and they offer new experiences, which helps me remember how I felt when I first started playing games as a kid. I have a lot of fun playing these games with my kids.

Let someone else worry about all the "sim" games like Madden that can't seem to ever get it right, or games where the idea is to run around blowing the head off as many simulated human beings as possible. LOL kids playing metal in the background running around and feeling simulated toughness in front of their TV screens...you take this stuff too seriously.

                          "Running the risk"?

I mean, if that's the line of thinking, then why have HD graphics? Why have online? Why even have a system? Why not just release the controller as an add on and keep making Mario games for the Wii?

Lot of people feel the same way, including me. Like stated earlier, trophies and achievements are ok for those that like them but it's just not something I need.
I am a fanboy for Nintendo, period. I still remember having 2 or 3 games for the NES before I was able to get the NES system. It's simply just good memories from earlier days that buy Nintendo some loyalty.

I got the Wii a few months after it's launch but the wiimote/nunchuck just wasn't for me after a while so I abandoned it. This caused me to miss a lot of time with Nintendo games.

Now with closer to conventional control scheme I'm really excited to get back into the Nintendo franchise.

I also agree to let MS/Sony deliver the total "sim" all in one household entertainment center.
There's room for all 3 systems and as gamers we should want as many choices as we can get.
And as a "Have to have all!" I usually buy all systems.
Some are for me and some aren't but I try them all.

Hopefully the WiiU has a great lifespan but either way I'll enjoy it while it lasts. My main area of concern is early break downs and having the early adopter issues.
I'm excited for Sunday but will not hesitate to give honest opinions on the games and systems soon after.

The underrated thing for me will be playing on the pad while my kids watch a show or my wife watches something. I love NBA 2K this year but I haven't been able to play it because the TV is always taken. This is going to help me get more games in.

And that's fine, and it's a genuine innovation, but to act like nintendo's approach is perfect (especially when you don't have the console yet) is shortsighted, IMO. It might turn out to be great. It might turn out to be a disaster. Who knows?
