    Thanks..!
As far as it being gimmicky.. I really don't understand that at all. If you don't like the system (after 2 days??) then I'm not sure what you expected.

The gamepad actually adds alot to gaming and if developers uses it correctly then the future should be great. I mean even PS3 owners want the same stuff via the VITA and PS3 tie in and XBOX with the smartglass..

Just like most new consoles the early games from outside developers aren't "perfect".

The Wii U seems to be get more critical thinking than the 360 or PS3 did..

and with that I'm heading to the abyss

Yeah, we've come to expect too much from launches now or something. I don't remember the 360 having too special of a launch, but whatever.

To me, if I'm going to be putting $300-$400 down for a system, I'm going to make sure I know what I'm getting into, and expect a couple of surprises along the way.

In my opinion, it has had a solid launch. Many quality games, the 4 big video streaming services up and running (with the hopefully awesome TVii coming very soon), and a solid online system for free. All plusses in my book.

I just looked back at the 360 launch and they had around 18 games at launch... and not many of them were anything to write home about. Let's give this system time to grow. It seems to be a magnet for criticisms right now.

Fyi, I will probably be jumping on for Black Ops around 9:30-9:45ish central time.

I think the reason why people are more critical of this system than the 360/PS3 is that it feels like Nintendo is just joining the HD/Internet party, so they should have learned a lot of the lessons that MS and Sony had to learn as they felt this process out. The roadmap is basically there in front of Nintendo, and they managed to botch a lot of things. When the 360/PS3 came out, there were no such things as iPhones, XBLA, or PSN, or anything like that. Those companies built those services from scratch. Nintendo seems to have chosen to ignore a lot of things that made those systems successful/convenient (like not tying purchases to hardware) and have instead seemingly released a system designed in 2005 in 2012. It's not good enough in many people's eyes. Had this system launched within a year or 2 of the 360/PS3, people would have been a lot more forgiving, I think.

I would have to say ZombiU is on my short list of favorite games. I can't understand how it has gotten some bad reviews

The ports aren't Nintendos fault I wouldn't think.
And to the point of Nintendo learning : Saying Gimmick when what they've done what many want with PS3/VITA and XBOX Smart glass is Nintendo being a bit ahead and yet still getting knocked for it.
They also have a much better launch lineup than what the PS3 or 360 had plus some apps right at launch.. Again they did learn a bit.

I just think its negativity for the sake of negativity as its Nintendo.

I have them all and will be critical when its warranted. (Like the framerate that bothers many in the ports) Wii games having to go into a whole different area to play them etc..

I'm just glad we have choices and thats what matters
              Te each their own...

But really 2 days in and its a bad purchase? Be a smarter shopper, seriously.
I don't see how people who have bought it regretting it are being negative just to be negative. Also the underpowered hardware relative to consoles that were released several years ago is a very valid issue whether you've bought it or not.

With people posting that 3rd party ports from multiple publishers (ie, not just 'oh, EA being lazy') are having issues, this looks like less and less of a 3rd party thing and more a product of the hardware (due things like the memory being slower than existing consoles). I expect that will get better, but it already appears that the Wii U has shown it can't just run ports of current generation games well and developers will have to put more work into compensating for the hardware. That could be just reducing texture quality or maybe features - something already done some games like Madden missing physics. Or both.

It's not like people are posting things that can't be refuted if they are wrong or are just making things up here. The lack of sustainable longevity and 3rd party support for the Wii is probably my biggest question for Nintendo to solve with the release of it's successor. Hardware that looks like it should have been released in 2007 and the launch slate 3rd party problems have done little to show they've fixed those issues.

I look forward to see where they take the experience, but it feels like they've got a very finite window that could slam shut very loudly if they don't have a home run of a system by the time the 360/PS3 begin to come into focus and their launches near.

Its the fun that counts regardless of "power"... and regretting it 2 days in = not really knowing what you are buying. Guess that's why they have the phrase "buyers remorse" though.

And I never said having valid complaints was wrong. Saying it's gimmicky when it is an advancement and one MS hopes to be in on with smartglass etc.. is not fair. Is the VITA cross play gimmicky? Of course not, it's an advancement.. because it's not named Nintendo.
That's all I'm saying. Complaints are fine but there shouldn't be 2 sets of rules, 1 for MS/Sony and 1 for Nintendo.
Even the launch list was better than average compared to previous releases.

I agree that they had better take the gampad forward as if not.. it may be a short run for the WiiU. However I still don't think it matters about the 720/PS4.. Nintendo never has been about competing with them. With that said this console doesn't have the "OMG I HAVE TO GET" vibe this go round.. at least I don't see that out there.
From here on out I'm simply going to talk about the games and leave the rest alone.

And on the complaint side..... WTF did they have to reverss the freaking button layout?
That still gets me from time to time playing Madden. I will probably drop Madden after the new season of 3SD starts as having to get muscle memory for 2 layouts isn't good for this "aged" gamer..

I just hope ZombiU is a good ride.

I can't believe some people are okay leaving the house the way they smell sometimes. It's disturbing/nauseating.

Ended up just grabbing ZombiU, a nunchuck, Pikmim 2 and 20 in E shop money.

Think I'm grabbing Trine 2 in the morning.
