And now Nintendo is reaping what they sowed. They thought that they could get away with having another underpowered system and a gimmicky controller. What's eveb worse for them is that we are still months away from E3 and the other systems haven't been officially announced yet but Nintendo still hasn't been able to make people excited about their console. I can't see how this situation can get better for them.N.Y Mets

Re: Wii U Discussion
I agree, but it's going to have to establish other good first party titles as well. It's not going to be able to compete with the other two consoles unless it can figure out a way to make their first party exclusives as appealing as the combination of 1st party/3rd party titles that the other consoles will have.
If Nintendo was ever going to consider a Pokemon console game, it would be now. That's a system seller.
However I do feel a sense of underachieving even for Nintendo on this one. We'll see how it goes. I just want my Nintendo games and then after all the facts come out... pick PS4 or 720
I've already been disappointed with the Vita... this would be 2 in a row for me lol..

Re: Wii U Discussion
Kinda indicatative about what I was going to post... no activity in the Wii U thread in a couple of weeks, heh.
One theory about the abysmal Wii U Sales is the collapse of the resale market:
Rather than the 57k estimate reported, it's said that the figure could be off as much as 40-50%, because this final estimate was impacted by returns.
Or to state my clearly, 40-50k Wii U units may have been returned in January, new retail sales may have been closer to 100k but impacted heavily by returns. This still puts February estimates around 80k which is still a really unhealthy number, but thought this was an interesting very plausible theory for the historic January the console had.
Even now, the secondary market is flooded with brand new units below retail price.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
I'll get a Wii U again once we have windwaker hd and mario kart 8 ...those are must plays for any Nintendo fan.
I'd love to see the Xenoblade sequel come out this year but rather have it come out when its as epic as chronicles was.
Other than that its not a sports gaming console and not a multiplatform gaming console. It STILL IS a Nintedno console and if nintendo focuses on that make all their past game available through playing through the actual wii u software and NOT switching over to Wii then theyd have a bonified all purpose nintendo console finally for all...
ALAS they think they can still duke it out with the competition which is laughable...
Nintendo is endearing never was overpowering and are a niche "funmarket" part of gaming.
i think EVERYONE would agree...
1)make all wii u games playable without having to go into wii mode and have all the games upscale AND antialiase
2)allow all wii games to be played via the gamepad just as a controller or even playable with the much better wii u controller gamepad
3)have a gamecube archive come out including japanese titles like winning eleven 6(ok that maybe not everyone but a very selfish ME muhahawa)
and...
4)A NEW F-ZEROBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
The Wii U’s poor console sales can only really be fixed by releasing games that people want to play on the platform. The forthcoming Pokemon: Rumble U is sure to see a spike in sales of hardware and software, but third-party publishers are still choosing to give Nintendo’s new console a miss.
The latest of those is Deep Silver, whose game Dead Island: Riptide, won’t be making the trip to Wii U. In a potentially bigger blow for the platform, the recently announced and Deep Silver published Saints Row 4 also isn’t going to see a release on the Wii U.
Both games had an opportunity to do something novel with the Wii U GamePad, but Deep Silver has thought better of a release. For the Techland-developed Dead Island follow-up, Deep Silver says the decision came down to balancing improvements to the game engine against carrying out the port for a new platform. In the end, they decided more time spent producing a game for platforms they already supported (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) was better than supporting Nintendo’s hardware.
For Saints Row 4, the decision not to release seems to be for similar reasons. The development teams on both games don’t see it as worthwhile embracing another platform. That surely has something to do with the potential user base, having to support the different control method, and the time/costs involved.
You could argue that the Wii U doesn’t need or even want either game due to the gamers Nintendo aims the system at. But having these more adult titles would surely only help families embrace the system as it offers more choice for a range of age groups.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
I caved and ordered the Lego Undercover game. The kids will just have to take turns playing. Got $10 off so at $40 plus tax it's a pretty good deal. Plus it gives them something else to play on the Wii U and will get them off my PS3 lol. I hope it's good (or at least keeps the kids entertained).Comment
