Re: Wii U Discussion
Broke down and bought a WiiU from Target last week with MK8, Super Smash and got 5 of the 6 amiibos in wave 2 (couldn't get a little mac, which was the only one I really wanted. But I'm loving the Captain Falcon). Honestly really enjoying it so far and I'm now realizing how many damn wiimotes and classic controllers I had bought for my Wii.
Can't believe I got sucked into collecting these Amiibos though. Ugh, now I have to try to buy them all and Nintendo is no help right now in getting your hands on these figures."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: Wii U Discussion
Our son was ECSTATIC to get Captain Toad this morning. I did a couple levels, and I see that it will occupy some time of mine in the future.

Kids got Disney Infinity 2.0 today from Santa...it looks pretty cool, but a little tough for a 6 and 7 yr old so far. More of a learning curve than I, *cough* Santa thought.Comment

Got Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for Christmas. Played through the first world and I can already say the few levels I've played are harder than any level in the first half of Super Mario 3D World.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Agree but the game is not crazy hard though and I have beat the game but I still have not beat DKCR though so I found DKCR harder then freeze.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
I got that today too. I was only able to play for 10 minutes or so but I'd definitely agree. SM3DW is pleasantly tough in most areas, but I could see how Donkey Kong would be tougher.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Wii U Discussion
The last DKC game I played was DKC2 for the SNES. I'm up to World 4 in Tropical Freeze and really enjoying it. There's a certain rhythm and momentum to the platforming that I like. It's a decent challenge, but nothing crazy and you have so many lives and can collect so many coins to buy even more lives. Certainly more challenging than Mario, but not even close to something like Super Meat Boy. Bosses maybe do have a little to much health. There's a ton of unique assets and almost every stage takes you on a small journey, as you go to new areas within the same stage and the sense of cohesion between it all is impressive.
Also, the soundtrack is incredible. Just a few examples:

Good lord! That 1st track and 3rd track would be a distraction on whatever level they're on because they're SOOOOO good!Comment

I got the game back when it came out and I need to go though the game again. I need to go though the game again just for the soundtrack lol. It is one of the best soundtracks in a game in a long long time and one of the best soundtracks in any game I have never played.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Speaking of DKC, does anyone know how to get the "O" on level 1-1? Its under the leaf platform about half-way through. I tried speed turning through the water upwards w/ Diddy on my back and nothing. Anyone able to get this piece yet?
I'm going back through the game again after all the discussion and I want to 100% everything.Comment

My friend and I just got it on co-op. He was Cranky and just timed his jump right to get to it.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Wii U Discussion
Thanks...I'll have to try that with my daughter tomorrow. It seems like a lot of the stuff must be done on co-op to get everything. So did you come up from the water and have him jump off of you at the correct time?Comment
