Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

Hehe, just beat my top score on Tales of the Arabian Nights from PHOF: Williams with a 34 Million on the new version (was 20). Not sure if that means it's easier or not on Pinball Arcade - could just mean the physics are that much better.

Game looks and plays amazing on the Vita, btw - Maybe even better than the PS3. PS3 version seems darker, but that could just be because of my TV's settings.

Black Hole absolutely obliterates its Gottlieb Collection counterpart - it's how the table is meant to be played.

I used to watch it, but got tired of downloading such a big file for just a few things of content that I cared about.

Having never played Persona 3 prior to this, I can say that that's the craziest method of "summoning" something that I think I've ever seen in a JRPG. Not quite what I expected when I watched the intro.

Game looks awesome, definitely going in the rotation. I played through some of Persona 1 on PSP so I've got a basic idea of what's going on. The stories between the Persona games don't really connect except for things like the Velvet Room, right? So I won't spoil P1 by playing P3?

            Noob question:
My PS3 cant read Blu-ray(DvDs and games) discs. It will overheat and freeze. But, it can play movies and demos and everything else. I want to buy a full game off the Playstation Store.

Should I buy the full game off the PS Store? I dont want to risk wasting money, but I dont like having to play with other peoples game consoles all the time.

If it works, I will buy some games off the PS Store. I havent been able to play a full game on my PS3 since last May. I want to be able to play a game when I want to, not when I have to. Alot of times, I have to play it late.

I have Persona 3 on my PSP. Love that game. It is really far fetched. I'm itching to play through again after playing thru (and absolutely loving!) Catherine.

This is a little confusing. You say it won't read blurays because it overheats and freezes. Not reading a disk isn't going to cause overheating. That's two seperate issues. Does it play disk games for a while and then freezes, or just not play them at all. If it won't read any disks then you've got a bad laser in your bluray drive. You say it plays movies and demos, I'm assuming those movies are on you harddrive?

If you can play game demos from your harddrive with out problems I see no reason why you couldn't play full version games from your harddrive as well.

I meant the fan gets really loud(old fat model) and it freezes while playing games. It will start the game and eventually freeze. Ex., If I play NBA 2k it will freeze once a replay starts.

It will play regular dvds. But when I try to play a blu-ray dvd, it will freeze. It all started after I played a certain game and it been like that for almost a year now.

I just bought a PS Card. It plays demos, But it does get very hot though.
But I can play a demo for hours.

Later I will buy a game and see if it will work.

I was able to get a good amount of time in with the game. It did freeze once, but I was able to get about 3-4 hours in total. I will try to make a 2 hour limit so game wont overheat.
If anything I can start buying full games off the network There a few games, I wouldnt mind buying

Have you tried using a vacuum to suck some of the dust out of the PS3. It might help.

My name is Matthew Harper, and I’m part of the recently-formed PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Management team. Our mission is to keep you better informed about everything that is going on in the wide world of the PlayStation Network, to make your voice heard within the company, and to ensure that you, the gamer, are at the heart of every development across PSN. Together, we will help guide the future of this platform.

I’m here today to let you know that we will be performing routine scheduled maintenance on the network on Monday, April 16th, starting at approximately 6:00 am PDT / 9:00 am EDT. This maintenance will last roughly 13 hours, concluding around 7:00pm PDT / 10:00 pm EDT. During much of this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one.
We will continue to provide as much information as we can regarding any future maintenance we need to schedule.

Keep your eyes on the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online. We look forward to gaming with you all when the maintenance is finished on Monday night.

Downloading right now. What sold me are the additional tables that will be added in the future. Any idea if these are included for the purchase price, or will be extra?

They'll be extra, although if they happen to go the route they did for the mobile phone versions, you might be able to play a score limited demo of DLC tables for free. Wouldn't count too heavily on that though - with PSN store purchases being the way they are.

Going rate for the DLC tables on mobile is $3, but buying the monthly table pack (this month's is Medieval Madness and Machine: Bride of Pinbot), is only $5. I'd say it's pretty likely that those two will be the first tables released on PSN/XBL.

BOP is one of my favorites right alongside The Getaway: High Speed II, so bring it on Farsight!
