I have one preorder which I plan to flip. I don't look at it like taking advantage of anyone but rather giving them an opportunity to purchase something they may not otherwise have the chance to purchase.

Little of both. But the SNES fiasco today made me remember that I swore I wouldn't ever do that to another gamer.

It also works with compatible headphones. It doesn't require hardware, it's a license. But yeah, for home theater it's $$$. I have a 5.1.2 setup right now, but it needs to be dialed in better.

I tried their atmos app on the Xbox with my headphones and it easily destroys any other headphone surround sound I've ever heard. I'd easily pay the $15 one time to have it and can be used with any headphones.

I'll definitely look into some headphones. I'm assuming the Sony golds won't get the job done.

I want a couple speakers above our recliners badly though

I use these to game late night and with the Dolby Atmos app on the Xbox it sounds insane. Best headphone surround sound I've ever heard. You hear sounds coming from every angle and even sounds that sounds like it's coming from above your head which I've never experienced on headphones. Glad to see Gears of war and some other games are coming with Dolby Atmos.

These are 250ohms so the controllers don't have enough juice to power these. I use them with my AV receiver. You can try a controller but it won't get loud enough and the bass would be lacking as well.

Pretty sure I need a new receiver for atmos. After buying a new tv, a pro and a OneX this year that's not even something I want to bring up to the wife right now.

When we moved to our new house a years and half ago, I decided to bail on my HT setup and bought a really nice sound bar. Honestly, it's the best decision I ever made.

It sounds great, and it's a million times less invasive. It's a Samsung HW-K550 that has the capability to to use wireless rear speakers if I decided to grab some, but haven't felt the need. I do have a wireless sub, so I get a pretty nice full sound. The bar is 3.1 and has six speakers directing sound, so you still get a clear center channel for dialogue.

So what I may do is upgrade that to a Dolby Atmos compatible sound bar. The price was a little insane the last time I checked several months ago, at well over a grand. But it may end up being worth it now that the Xbox is going all in on Atmos.

But giving up on the receiver and speakers has made upgrading feel a lot simpler and cleaner. Plus, it has good settings for sports, cinema, drama, clear voice, music, night and standard. I don't spend hardly any time dialing sound in. You can tweak bass, treble, and the sub woofer. But like giving up on sliders for sports games, it suddenly receives that pressure to always get the sound just right. Because in reality, it just sounds good.

I have 5.1 already wired up in my basement through the walls so ideally I'd like to just add a couple overhead speakers. I really haven't even looked into it yet but I had to box out a pipe in my basement and that's right above where our recliners are so I'm thinking that would he the perfect spot to add a couple. It just sucks because I feel like I just bought my current onkyo receiver. It's been a few years reality wise but it still feels brand new.
