Re: Xbox One
Astroneer is 1.0...checked a bit out last night when people were asleep and looks really good. I think they have refined the gameplay over the past few years to work better than their Early Access stuff. Worth checking out if you like exploring, messing with terrain, space, etc.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
I did that and then a little of a new game. Definitely shows you the theory of everything, and the way to unlock things seems more organic vs. earlier. Like 3 years ago I got a world up to the end of what they had and it was fun, but now should be a bit more indepthNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Has anyone’s Xbox just went completely black when starting up the console? When I started mine up the welcome message pops up but then the screen is completely black and after a minute or so I got a message saying if it keeps happening to try restarting the console. After I did a hard restart it finally worked but should I be worried that my Xbox is on its way out?Comment

Re: Xbox One
In the glare of these other very popular games lately, Crackdown 3 gives me a sinking feeling. A very different type of game that I kinda suspect won't be received well if they've pivoted to try and make any kind of battle royale stuff a centerpiece of the title.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Honestly I'm not really expecting much. It's been in development so long and had so many issues that they're just trying to get something out. All the "online processing" crap we were sold will probably end up being a gimmick.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Yeah I dunno. They definitely still care if you buy their hardware regardless of how many times you say they don’t. Do what you want obviously but you could just not bother with the other options and go about using the console like you always have. When I’m playing a game the thought of where other people can play it definitely doesn’t factor into my enjoyment in any way at all.
That's the Xbox podcast I listen to every week. On a side note, Rand is playing Crackdown 3 and Far Cry New Dawn for review and awaiting Metro Exodus. Jez is already playing Metro Exodus for review at Windows Central. Jez doesn't talk about Metro as he's restricted by the review embargo but Rand says at one point - it's bad??? And Jez says hell no, it's not but doesn't say anything more because he can't. This episode was recorded last Friday.
Seriously, if you're an Xbox fan, it's a good weekly podcast to listen to as it's audio only. Super hyped for Metro Exodus and Far Cry New Dawn.Comment

Re: Xbox One
good point. Otherwise X wouldn't have happened, and I don't think at E3 last year Phil would have talked about Scarlett and them being dedicated to bringing you the most powerful gaming consoles and it potentially having different versions to appease different audiences.
But they seem to be realistic enough to know there are always going to be people on other devices. If software and services are your money makers, wouldn't it make sense to bring it to these other devices? Give people the option to play on hypothetically the best console. Or on their PC. Or on the go on their switch. But even when all that happens, the core experience is on their console. It promotes cross play (and hopefully if things work out on switch, cross save!)
If I'm not mistaken, the new switch revision might be mobile only? Then maybe those owners get an Xbox to play the games on the TV. Maybe PC gamers (depending on setup) say hey it might make sense to get this console to use this service on the TV, more convenient than steam link, running a long cable to another room, having a separate PC for the living room only, paying 5x as much for a gaming laptop for mobility, etc.
Xbox be like...play where you want, we give you these options for a reason. I don't see how in any way, shape, or form, that is them saying f our hardware (which is the core experience of it all) and play elsewhere, we don't care.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I think it's more that they've adapted their strategy a bit from locking you into specific hardware (kinect and all that) and being very open with everything (BC, upgraded systems like X, adaptive controller).
As someone who's mostly in their ecosystem (and no real desire to switch out) the moves they've made seem amazing for the future, and Sony hasn't done a whole lot to move the needle. Not that they had to, but will be interesting next gen now that MS isn't giving Sony the easy win like last time.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
