Yesterday I tried to boot up Nascar Heat 3. Went to play a race, as it was loading the race, kicked me back out to the dashboard. Kept happening over and over. Uninstalled it from my external drive, re-downloaded. Hasn't had any issues.

While it was downloading, I tried to launch Madden. Error popped up saying something about corrupt data. Closed it, launched F1 2018. Loads fine, went to have a quick race, loads the track just fine, once I go to start the race, it just sits there. Game is locked up, it's just showing my pit crew standing around the car talking. It's not loading though to take me to the actual race start. Happens over and over.

I exit that game, load up Farming Simulator. No problems.

Launch Forza Horizon 4, loads up fine, right at the "press A to start" screen, press A, it starts loading, kicks me right back to the dashboard.

Load up Ace Combat 7... go to play a mission, once I select my plane and wait for it to load the mission. Boots me back to the dash.

I uninstalled AC7 yesterday. Re-installed. Same issues, same exact time while loading. Madden, I didnt uninstall, but was able to play it just fine yesterday. F1 is still freezing. I'm presently downloading AC7 to my other console to see if it works there, and I'm re-downloading/installing to my Internal drive this time on my XB1X. I also moved AC7 over to my internal today and tried to start it, but instead got an error that said "Sorry, that didn't work" with error code 0x8007002.
My XB1X has my external hooked up to it. It's the console that's causing the problems, I'm thinking my external may be dying? Does this seem familiar to anyone else who's had one die on them? I'm guessing that if AC7 launches fine from this fresh download to the internal, then my issue must be the external drive I assume?

I've tried uninstalls/reinstalls, power cycles, reboots, nothing seems to help. Going to try a reset next (while keeping my game data) to see if that helps, although I'm starting to feel like it may be my external drive failing?

Any idea's suggestions? Or does it sound like my external may be dying? I've had it since the XB1 launch basically. Any idea's/suggestions on a new HD to buy?

EDIT: AC7 has finished re-installing on the Internal drive now as a fresh install, launched, still crashed just the same way as from the external drive.

Could it be that I have an issue with the actual console itself then? This is getting ridiculous.
May be very simple, have you powered cycled he system? "Hold the Power button down until the system turns off" Then turn It back on and test all games again.

        Not looking good so far...

Launched AC7 upstairs on my other XB1, played just fine.

Did a factory reset on the new XB1X while keeping my game data. AC7 is installed on the internal drive this time from the fresh install this morning, launches, and boots me to the dash at the same point every time.

Unplugged the external drive, moved it upstairs and connected it to my older XB1. Launched Horizon 4 from the external, loaded up and let me play just fine. On the new One X when i tried to launch FH4 I got an error saying it was corrupt. Yet it played just fine on the other console.

I'm now doing a full factory reset on the One X. If I move the external back down here to it now and get the same errors, I guess it's on the phone to MS and seeing what they do for it. It's one freakin month old...

If you have a Microsoft store near you then you can take it there and they will swap it out in the store.

I do not... they dont have anything like that here. I bought it from Best Buy though. It's probably over 30 days now, so I'm sure they won't care either.

Think you have 15 days to return it at best buy unless you are a premiere member or something like that. It sounds like your console has a faulty hard drive unfortunately.

Really? I play everything off of the external. It works on one console, but not the other. What would the internal hard drive have to do with that?

Jeez... now ive brought the external drive back down to the One X after a complete factory restart, try to launch Horizon 4 and I get "For some reason Forza Horizon 4 has taken too long to start. (0x8027025a) error." So I close the error, launch it again, now it's loading and syncing my data (likely since it worked and I played on the other console) and then it crashes back to the dash again.

Oh, and I bought the thing January 3rd from BB, so looks like I'm screwed that way too. Awesome. One thing after another. Ridiculous.. Great quality control MS.

I thought you said you put the games on your internal and it did the same thing. Maybe it’s not the hard drive but at this point I’d say the console is obviously defective. Might as well start the repair process.

                    It did. With AC7 anyways.

On the phone with Support now... this guy basically told me they put out an update a week or so ago that's caused issues similar to this with many consoles. Sounds like their update, has corrupted some consoles and data.

Basically having me try things I've already done, working fine on the XBone, but not on the OneX. Sounds like they're working me towards an exchange... which would be super easy if the closest MS store for me wasn't 4 hours away.

Absolutely ridiculous IMO. When it comes back to me if it's repaired... I'll be selling it likely. Whether I buy a new one or not, I'm not entirely sure. I may just be done with them all together. I shouldn't need to be mailing back a product I just bought a month ago for a repair or replacement... Especially when the replacement is a refurbished console anyways.

Thanks for nothing MS. Thats some pretty awful customer service IMO. Hey, here's my 1 month old console that you guys apparently bricked with an update gone wrong... please send me someone elses refurbished piece of garbage in exchange! I don't mind! Really!! Yeah.. bravo MS... great deal.... for them.

Sounds like you should think about buying the extended warranty when you purchase a console. That way you could just bring it back to the place of purchase if there are issues like this. That way it would just be an easy swap out.

Microsoft will probably send you a brand new one but they obviously can’t do that until they receive the broken one. Definitely understandable to be frustrated. I would be too.

Is the best way for Game Pass and Live to either do the year of Live or the 3 month game pass, sometimes when they have deals? My Game Pass is dying in April or something, so hoping to build up to keep that going forever, along with Live as it comes up in almost 6 months....
Yeah the longer the term the more it is discounted in point cost. Usually when those have deals (like say 3 months of gold is a hot deal) 4 of those still end up being more points than the full cost of a year of gold. So I personally hold out for the hot deals on the longest term. Then I just try to bank points to get multiples when either has one.

Sorry, I'm not about to spend extra money on an extended warranty. It's ONE MONTH old. The standard warranty should take care of me just fine.

I asked if it was going to be a new replacement. I was told it would be a refurb. When I voiced my displeasure with that option, he tried to tell me that only the case is re-used, the inside is all brand new. Riiiiiiight. Because that's believable.

Its ridiculous IMO to think that the solution to this problem is me paying extra to the retailer, for an "extended warranty" or replacement program. What's not ridiculous is to think a company should stand behind it's product after a month when it fails, as a result of their own screwup with a software update (apparently) or a batch of faulty hard drives.

It's terrible business practice IMO for a product that was purchased January 3rd, and essentially dead on Feb 18 to be replaced with a refurbished unit. Basically swap me my junked $500 paperweight, for one that was once someone elses $500 junked paperweight.

The "solution" shouldn't be me essentially buying a warranty, on the warranty. I just don't ever see that as being an option. Extending something past the 1 year warranty, I absolutely understand and see the value in, but not at this early stage.

I'm sure I'll chill out about it in a bit, I love my XB, had one all the way back to the original at launch, never owned another console brand either since getting that original XB. However, I'm not about to invest more of my cash into a company that won't stand by it's product and do right for it's customers when the product can't survive two months out of the box. If it's a hard drive issue as they suspect and they swap out my drive for another, and send me back my box... I'm fine with that. I'm not fine with receiving someone elses repaired box who had whatever other problems though.

Microsoft’s standard warranty does take care of you. I’m not saying an extended warranty is the only solution at all. I thought you were pissed you couldn’t just switch it out because the Microsoft store was far away. An extended warranty at your retailer would prevent that situation.

It doesnt really take care of me though. It's taking my one month old console, and replacing it with a refurbished one. God only knows what new issues I'm likely inheriting. That's my biggest problem here with the whole thing.

It's just a crappy way for them to do things IMO. I'm going to call BB tomorrow. Their policy is 30 days here in Canada. I'm 15 outside of that as of today, but maybe they'd like to help, but I doubt it.
