Same, I never seem to finish any single player games. I play games to completion that have a coop story with friends and family (gears, halo, ghost recon, division, dying light, anthem, destiny, etc.) but single player I typically put in a handful of hours then call it quits. Quantum break and the original watch dogs I believe are the only single player games I finished this gen. Game pass has given me a handful of games to do that with and not spend the full $60 on it.

Re: Xbox One
If the games cater to me and are what I want, then I'll favor them but if not, I'll still buy and support the console brand and play some exclusives but I won't be all-in like I am with my preferred console. But it is on a generation by generation basis. For me, it's all about which brand gives me the most exclusives that I want to play. That's literally 90% of it. The other 10% would be user interface/dashboard/navigation/simplicity and the controller.
With that said, knowing that Halo Infinite will be a launch title for Xbox 4 guarantees a day one purchase from me where as with PlayStation 5, it's still 50/50 because im not 100% sure on what their exclusive launch titles will be.
Either way, like I said in my previous post, im super hyped for Gears 5 and looking forward to Microsoft's E3 2019 showcase.Comment

Also, starting Friday as part of the Xbox Spring Sale, you can get three months of Game Pass for $1 as long as you're not currently a subscriber. Not sure if it works for those who were previously a subscriber but no longer are. Some may want to look into that as well.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Hahahahaha. In fairness, I was the opposite last generation as I heavily favored Xbox 360 over PlayStation 3 as I literally only completed five games (all exclusives) on PlayStation 3 compared to 40 games overall (and soon to be 45) on Xbox 360.

Re: Xbox One
FWIW I feel like sunset OD is overlooked as far as new IPs go. Probably a lot to do with how the initial launch of the console went. It did pretty well review wise and was fun as hell to play.
I think that and RYSE could both be solid moving forward if they decided to invest in them. I think insomniac said they would be down to make a a sunset 2 if Microsoft helped them with the cost of making a game like that again.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I'll be interested in what Naughty Dog does post Uncharted. I think there's TLOU2, but as Bioware has shown a great developer can easily implode over time. Plus ND has gone through a lot of turnover (Amy Hennig gone, others...normal for companies but still)...Horizon Zero Dawn looked amazing, but are there tons of other Sony exclusives right now? Not bashing, legit wondering about the future....I don't know that there's a "must have" Sony game for me that I'd be looking forward to.

I don't blame them at all....just legitimately thinking about must have Sony now and I've realized I don't really care much. They might have something awesome waiting, just no clueNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Games are fleeting, I'm interested in ecosystem shifts and invest in what I want more of.
Madden is my only real anticipated release every year, with the occasional exception I don't really know when games release or even what is coming until it's a couple weeks away.

SpoilerNaughty Dog is done with Uncharted. In fact, it's the new San Diego Studio that will most likely be working on Uncharted 5 for PS5 even though I would prefer Lost Legacy 2 instead. I do believe that TLOU will be a trilogy so I can easily see TLOUP3 closing out PS5 with them having a new IP early on in the generation. Amy has been gone for over three or four years and she hasn't done anything since leaving. As much as Uncharted 4 was a disappointment to me, what they did with the game after she left and in such short time was impressive. Simply not worried about Naughty Dog.
Naughty Dog in general will be fine as they always are. The main reason why I love Sony (even though Ubisoft is first) is because they rarely if ever interfere. Once they green light a game, that's it. It's all up to the development studio. Best of all, they will give you plenty of money, resources and perhaps most important of all - time. They don't rush out their exclusives which is why the quality is so high and the polish is there.
PS4 wise, im waiting for Days Gone in two weeks and in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima and TLOUP2. 50/50 on Death Stranding. Also, PSN exclusive remake MediEvil is on my 50/50 list as well. Rumors have it that Ratchet and Clank 2 may be a 2020 game as well since it's said to be the unannounced AAA game that Sony hasn't revealed yet. Even though I would prefer this to be a PS5 launch title.
On the Xbox One side, im waiting for Gears 5 obviously as well as Gears Tactics in 2020, Zelda type clone called Tunic and beat em up Battletoads. Outside of Gears 5, the other three aren't even close to my top three for PS4. Waiting to see what Ninja Theory's new IP Bleeding Edge is even though the podcast I listen to said that based on their inside info, it's a far better version of the game called Absolver which I have zero interest in and hope that rumor is dead wrong because if it's true, it just continues the cycle of Microsoft's internal studios developing games that just don't appeal to me or interest me whatsoever.
That is one of the many reasons why I do heavily favor Sony this gen. Before Horizon, Guerrilla Games was nothing to me. Once Days Gone releases in two weeks, Bend Studio will finally be of importance to me. Not into Infamous and thus, once Ghost of Tsushima releases, Sucker Punch is now important to me. Never cared about third party developer Insomniac until Spider Man which makes me want to play Ratchet and Clank (its in my backlog) because I see how great Insomniac is.
For Microsoft's studios, the vast majority of them just don't develop games that appeal to me whatsoever. In this aspect, I can't do anything about it.
For next gen, im expecting Inexile to release Wasteland 3 which could still be released this gen and I know what it is and thought about playing Wasteland 2 but I'll just wait for the third one and see if it's any good. Obsidian has a new IP for next gen exclusive to Xbox since Microsoft did acquire them. The Outer Worlds is their last multi-platform game.
Playground is said to be working on a new Fable reboot which im hoping to be true even though I wouldn't mind a new IP in the action RPG genre instead of Fable. Undead Labs is basically a one IP factory with SOD 3 which after SOD 2, completely lost interest in them. They will have to win me back. Compulsion Games, I just don't see anything there. At least not for me anyway. Have high hopes for Ninja Theory but if that rumored game turns out true, those high hopes disappear.
The other studio would be The Initiative but ten months later, they're still hiring and setting everything up so im not expecting to see anything from them until E3 2022 at the earliest, maybe even E3 2023.
I'm simply hoping that the majority of Microsoft's internal studios start developing games that I have interest in but if they don't, I can't do anything about that except to play a game from someone else. That's all I can do.
As for must haves, that depends on what type of games you're into. For me, it's third person single player story driven games. It's what I want and what I prefer the most so for me, three out of the next four AAA releases from Sony are easily day one buys and all game of the year contenders.
I'm not the type to stick with the same game for weeks and months on end. That's just a waste of time for me because I would be missing out on so many other great games and im trying to eliminate my backlog, not add to it. LOL.
For me, a month is usually the maximum amount of time I stay with the same game. I played AC Odyssey back at launch for 192 hours over a span of about a month. Went back to it this past weekend to play and complete the first expansion, Legacy of the First Blade but other than something like this which of course, is focused on a single player story and narrative driven experience, once a game is done, it's done.
Just so many games to play and complete from the five games I have for Xbox 360 to the 8 or so games for this generation to new upcoming releases, it's just too many games for me to dedicate so much amount of time to and that's something I won't do even if I wanted to. LOL.
And just remembered, there's also third party exclusives like Judgment and Nioh 2 that are coming out in June and TBA respectively. There's also this amazing looking action RPG called Granblue Fantasy developed by CyGames in which the combat was developed by Platinum Games. It's PS4 exclusive for 2020. Seriously, it blows away the vast majority of action RPG's that I have seen. If you're into action RPG's and a fan of Platinum Games combat, check out their 18 minute or so gameplay trailer that was released last December.
So it's NOT just Sony exclusives, it's other exclusives that I have interest in especially since I have become very interested in Japanese Games the last two years for the first time since PlayStation One.
Either way, it's an amazing time to be a gamer. It simply comes down to which publishers and developers cater to what each individual gamer is looking for.Last edited by peter42O; 04-11-2019, 04:47 PM.Comment

Thanks for the input....Not much there was really making me go crazy, but there is a lot going on.
I know Naughty Dog could just be fine as always...I just see Bioware flame out and know it's possible, especially as the original people burn out and leave.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
BioWare just isn't any good anymore and EA basically being on top of them makes it worse. Just look up what Dragon Age 4 WAS going to be compared to what it looks like it's going to be. Naughty Dog is basically the Rockstar equivalent under Sony meaning they're basically untouchable. Four games in the last two generations and two game of the year awards by the vast majority of critics and gamers. No need to worry about Naughty Dog bud. Plus, the leadership and higher ups at BioWare and EA aren't exactly any good or on the same page. Naughty Dog and Sony doesn't have those problems.Comment
