Re: Xbox One
Not a fan.
It seems that we have firm confirmation that the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition is set for an early May 2019 launch, complete with copies of Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, and Forza Horizon 3 in the box. Also, we seem to have confirmation of that all important price point, which will hit around $249.99 RRP USD in the US
Could be a higher MSRP to allow for larger sales too thought I suppose. Thing should be $150 for X-Mas IMO.Comment

Re: Xbox One
That's beyond horrible. No disc drive. And instead of including Game Pass (which I would think would have been a given), they include three games that aren't really impressive. Everyone who wants to play Minecraft already owns it. Sea of Thieves is meh. And while Forza Horizon 3 is great, Forza Horizon 4 is obviously newer and better. The $250 price tag is nuts. You can get a brand new Slim for $200 sometimes with a game and it includes a disc drive.
Of course, as someone who heavily favors physical discs, the higher the price the better because it means that it will most likely crash and burn. I truly have no idea why Microsoft keeps trying to force the no disc drive aspect. Stop doing it. It doesn't work and is just a waste of money, time, resources, research and development. That's all it is.
More importantly, for the same price or less, why would anyone buy this disc less console and restrict themselves when they could have the ability to play discs, download games digitally and stream games in one unit?
But whatever, I don't see it selling whatsoever and being killed off before next gen gets here simply because I just don't see any value in it. No games and $100 price tag, okay, sure I can see that because you can just sign up for Game Pass which is digital downloads anyway and thus, you don't need a disc drive but $250, wow, just wow. Re: Xbox One
Long term, we'll probably have a version of this machine a One X w/disc drive that is incrementally better at the current One S price point and then the next iteration for the bleeding edge / enthusiast. All of them able to play the same library and with massive and modern instant game collections via Game Pass and EA Access, many available on most of your devices that have a screen.
That's why this is the ecosystem I'm investing in.

Like someone mentioned above me, I think you're greatly overestimating "disc" usage going forward. I have an Xbox1X and PS4 Pro and I've maybe used my disc once? Twice maybe in 2 years? Streaming and Digital Gaming is the future, with disc's going the way of blockbuster and the dodo.

Not for Nothing Pete, but anything more than free probably would have elicited the same reaction from you.

As for discs, the percentage isn't as low as what people believe it to be simply because every graph always includes DLC, micro-transactions, etc. which can only be purchased via digital downloads which inflates the percentage.
I see discs being around for at least two more generations so I would say 2030 - 2035 depending on how long each of the next two generations last.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I just don't see any value in it if it does in fact launch at $250. Favoritism aside, why would anyone spend $250 on a disc less console when right now, you can get a 1TB Slim model for $250 at Best Buy with the ability to play discs and a free game ranging from Minecraft to Battlefield 5 to The Division 2.
If it's $100, insane value. But not if it launches at $250. Plus, it's the exact same size as the Slim so can't even say it's smaller and you'll save shelf space because you won't. Microsoft has done a lot of positive and amazing things the last few years but if this turns out to be accurate, I just don't see any value in it whatsoever and even if you get past the price, Microsoft has been pushing Game Pass extremely hard so to not include it is simply baffling.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Is there a significant graphics downgrade playing RDR2 on a One S? I know the One S can upscale to 4K for some games, but thought I saw RDR2 wasn't able to hit 1080p on the One S.
Was thinking about buying with the game on sale.Currently Playing:

I’m not really sure what you mean by “include game pass”. Including game pass with any console purchase would actually make no sense for them to do. Maybe a 1 month subscription or something. Which they still could do.Comment

Anyone who thinks the new xbox without a disc should be 100 or more less than standard xbox one s does not understand business
There is no difference between both consoles except the disc drive and most in this gen are now digital so it makes no difference except you might get a quieter console but why would someone pay 100 or more for the one with the disc drive when they are getting the same performance and quieter from the discless version.
People are confusing disc less drive xbox with a streaming machine
MS should get rid of the one with the drive all together and just make the disc less version going forward.Comment

I really don’t see myself buying a game on disc at this point. I can’t even tell you the last one I bought. I’ll probably always prefer console with a DD just for the ability to play UHD movies though. I’ll always prefer to watch my favorite flicks on a physical media. Since there is an advantage there.Last edited by ricky24; 04-14-2019, 12:55 PM.Comment
