Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to shy away from DR3 and Ryse for now. Definitely going to pick up Peggle 2 and take a look at Zoo Tycoon.

What are your thoughts on COD and BF4? It amazes me that friends of my daughter who is 9 are playing these FPS. My son wants one of these games, I think more so for the status of owning one.

Dan, can't comment on COD/BF4, but like Joe said, Powerstar Golf is great - basically the same game mechanics as Mario Golf for N64. Fun for all ages.

Max: Curse of the Brotherhood has gotten rave reviews from my coworkers here in Xbox, and I have it installed but haven't played it yet.
?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

?Ask me about the Xbox Ally handheld - I'm on the team that made it.

Your son is 12 or going to be 12, imo I dont see a issue with him playing Ryse or Dead Rising 3. Hes at the age where hes gonna start wanting the more hardcore experience. As long as your kid understands video games are just games, and movies are just movies and they are purely for entertainment he should be fine. As far as friends of your daughter playing COD/BF at young ages, I played Duke Nukem 64 and 007 Golden Eye. These games came out in 96 and 97. I was 6-7 years old at the time give or take on launch dates. Never bothered me, they were just video games. Heck the original GTA came out in 97 and I was playing that on PC.

EDIT: I just wanna say im not necessarily saying a 7 year old should play GTA, just saying at 12 I think its ok to start playing more hardcore titles. Everyone is different though.

It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

The only part that bothers me are the adults online. They can be nasty for a child.

              I did not play Ryse.

In Dead Rising 3, the fun is all the over the top ways to kill zombies. Like cutting then clear in half, electrocution, fire, steamrolling and combinations of those, etc. Now perhaps a mature 12 year old can get into that? I can't recommend it though.

What I think is more objectionable are the cut scenes with the bizarre sado/masochistic characters you run into.

              For example

Have they patched (or talked about patching) the lack of memory management on the One yet?

No patch yet, but they're working on it...this, controller battery level, and some other things they've said they know about and are working on.

No clue when the next patch is.

The TV guys are also working hard on new stuff, just don't know when it'll go live.

Reported Xbox One Patch Expected to Improve Graphical Performance: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/01/...al-performance

Microsoft is reportedly looking to improve the Xbox One's graphical performance in an upcoming patch. According to Hot Hardware, gaming insider Pete Doss has stated that Microsoft will relax GPU requirements for Kinect in order to achieve such results. As it is now, the Xbox One reserves 10 percent of its total GPU power for the Kinect, with 8 percent alone required for video processing. The alleged patch will purportedly free up that 8 percent for use in actual gameplay, leaving the remaining 2 percent for the peripheral's voice input processing.

                      <iframe src="http://widgets.ign.com/video/embed/content.html?url=http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/01/27/tomb-raider-definitive-edition-performance-comparison" width="468" height="263" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The Xbox One's graphical capabilities recently underwent some scrutiny, with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition performing better on the PlayStation 4. For a game like Tomb Raider, the reported patch could theoretically allow the Xbox One to produce a more steady frame rate around 30 FPS, instead of varying dramatically throughout gameplay.

The update, however, is not expected to bring Microsoft's console on par with the PlayStation 4, which can consistently display Lara Croft on her new adventure at 60 FPS. While there still may be a difference in overall performance, the human eye is more likely to be bothered by fluctuating frame rates than by a steady stream of fewer frames per second.

                      <iframe src="http://widgets.ign.com/video/embed/content.html?url=http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/01/23/news-tomb-raider-definitive-edition-frame-rates-revealed" width="468" height="263" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The Kinect for Xbox One has been a highly touted feature for the brand new console, although few high-profile games have taken full advantage of the hardware. If Microsoft rolls out the reported patch, developers could utilize more of the console's GPU power, instead of leaving resources for an attachment that they don't intend to use.

It is just the NFL Network app on the Xbox one. Not Sunday Ticket or NFL GameCenter (in Europe). So you would only get the Thursday night game. And no you don't have to run cable through the Xbox to use the app.

Tomb Raider looked equal if not more vibrate on the Xbox one. Some scenes in the video for whatever reason was black on the other consoles but had light/color on the xbox one

if you have a windows 7 or higher system you can right click on music or playlists and select "playto" and you should see the name of your xbox one. its pretty buggy for me though, i still use my 360 for such purposes
