Xbox live is paid service. Psn is free. You really wonder why Xbox is better? Next gen they are both paid so do not make claims you do not know. That's just being biased and adds nothing to the discussion.

If you want a fact. Most users prefer PS plus over Xbox live any day of the week.

I hope they finally allow indie developers to self-publish. I mean, even Nintendo has a better policy for indie devs. Also they need to get rid of the $40k fee for each time a dev wants to patch their game, because that's just straight up bullsh*t.

Yeah, that's absolutely ridiculous in this day and age of gaming.

8/10 of my game purchases are indie games (mainly on the PC due to ease and availability).

The policies, as they are, beyond being super restricting are basically saying that indie developers are second-class developers.

XBLA brought indie gaming to the forefront but then they quickly got pushed to the back burner. It's an asinine policy. MS would do well to learn that supporting indie developers is kind of a big deal.

First, need to look up the definition of fact. It will help.

Second, I do not know what you guys do for a living. But in the corporate world, a business having a multi-million dollar and mult-year advantage over a competitor is something that is very difficult to overcome. Is it impossible? Of course not, especially in this case where nothing on either side is secret or exclusive. There are just a 1000 different business cases that show this concept at work. But is a pretty tough task for a competitor to overcome a huge headstart over a short window.

The fee is there for a reason. It stops games from being released early with a bunch of bugs and have people who buy the game test it.

Yes, but how do you expect a one or two-man (or any number) independent developer to be able to test for and fix all the bugs prior to release? The fee might be there for the large companies that have massive funding and QA teams, but indies don't really have that. Microsoft is currently treating them like they're second-class citizens.

Yeah I agree, but there has to be a balance and that may not happen depending on contracts, etc. You can let self publishers who release Xbox Live only titles patch more and do it for little money, but then what happens with the big guys?

Anyone still plan on buying their games digitally? I plan on still downloading every thing. If Microsoft has shown me anything over the past few years its that none of their policies are set in stone. They're always looking to improve what they have and I still have hope for those of us who want to buy digital.

Thank you! This is the one thing that had Sony above Microsoft for me at the moment. Hope it's true, or else Microsoft will honestly have almost nothing from the indie community.

It's YMMV on PS3, but I've never had any issues with download speeds/ping/lag. I haven't had any issues on XBL either, but even in the discussions there are posters that acknowledge having download speed issues on PS3.
Sounds like you haven't played any 2K Sports games online. They are notoriously laggy on both systems.

I will probably buy digital if it is a game that I know I will never want to resell. (Halo, GTA, Battlefield etc.)

Free games that are actually really good titles (and pretty new) and same online gaming experience vs paid subscription for everything including netflix (which YOU already pay for).. I beg to differ. Regardless, I am not turning this into a further argument. Just wanted to throw .02 in.. Each to their own.

Again idependant on users. Most of the "free" games I had already played if I was interested in them.
Personally I liked the discounted games better since I could keep those if I dropped PS+. Mainly due to my ADD
For me it was more important to have fast speeds.
I do believe it will be a lot better with PS4. Really looking forward to it.
