It's sad actually - both systems look to be very good, but it always coming down to people feeling the need to mock others to justify there choice.

It goes both ways. There's plenty of PS4 bashing on XBone forums as well.

A couple of us were talking about this on Twitter the other day and the general consensus seems to be that because these are expensive machines that most people will only get one of the two, they feel a need to validate their purchase not only to others but to themselves.

I know all my complaints ("bashing", if you will) stems from the fact that I used to love everything about XBox but have become more and more disillusioned about what they have become/where they think they are going. If the brands and names of the systems were switched, with everything else being the same... my complaints wouldn't have changed one bit, they would just be directed in different directions.

I have some games preordered on Amazon for launch day. Should I go digital? I'm kinda worried about space issues, does anyone know the average size of a game for Xbox one? Another concern I had was waiting for it download but I guess if you think about it, it saves time going to the store or waiting for it to ship and you can play while it's downloading, correct? I thought I heard that somewhere.

Have we heard anything about digital game prices? Sales? Kind of like how steam has everything dirt cheap. Right now MSFT has digital games for full price while you can buy them new on Amazon for $20 less.

Supposedly COD Ghost on PS4 has a minimum requirement of 49GB of space for installation. SO im guessing its almost the same on the Xbox One. That right there tells me going all digital will be a problem fast.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

There will be nothing like steam sales for either console as part of the large picture. We've had this discussion plenty in this thread. Retailers would have a cow, and there's not an open marketplace. The only place to get the digital games for XBone/PS4 would be through their respective stores.

Steam being all-digital is only one (very) minor facet as to why they can have the sales they do, you can't compare a closed-market console digital market to the PC gaming digital market... it just doesn't work like that.

Nothing but love for my XBone brothers. I'd get it too if I had the dough. Both look like great systems.

I just wish there was some way to allow cross-platform online play. That would really tear down some walls.

The Xbox One does not look like a successful launch console. Microsoft was unprepared and rushed. I'm purchasing both systems so don't put me on the PS4 list of people making their purchase feel better. The fact of the matter is simple, Microsoft got destroyed and outplayed on every level by Sony. Microsoft has made the necessary changes to help, which is why I'm buying their system as well. Some of it's not hating, it's pure fact. I was attached to the Microsoft name for a long time.

So much of this talk is about hardware, but what's driving me to the xbox is games. There are just more games that interest me on the xbox than the ps4.

For me, any game, especially first party, that isn't running at 1080p this generation is a fail. I'm buying Ryse, but I have a 4k tv, I want 1080p for better upscaling. What games on Xbox are so intriguing? Ryse, killer instinct or dead rising? The only reason I'm buying the Xbox one is because of titanfall.

Sony's PR was certainly better than Microsoft's. It even successfully got Microsoft to change their console midstream, resulting in the loss of features I looked forward.

But I don't buy or enjoy products based on who has a better PR department.

Games, Kinect 2.0, their controller, and much more fully developed media entertainment features make the Xbox One an easy choice.

I also don't choose games based on resolutions and snazzy graphics over gameplay. I've played plenty of pretty games that fail to deliver, and many, many more iffy looking games that deliver gameplay in spades.

...and with rumors that the OS is unstable and unable to run certain games at a high resolution without crashing because they messed up the RAM hierarchy and made the system unstable is a plus as well. I buy games because of reputation, and Sony has a higher reputation for delivering a high quality experience, not just a racing game and futuristic shooter, 1st party btw.

honest, do you think MS is going to realse a the one with an unstable OS at this point. I dont think so.

Graphics are only one factor, but I'm sure the one will look great on my plasma.

There is also the factor of having games I want to play, which the one has more of out of the gate for me.

Honestly did you think they'd release a console last Gen that had anywhere from a 25% - 50% failure rate depending on who was asked? Because they did.

Just because something sounds terrible doesn't mean it is a ludicrous thing. Now I have no idea if there is any substance to these rumors so all I have to say is that it's not out of the realm of possibility at all. They know a delay would set them back even further behind than they are at this point, even if was in the best interests of the console. The only thing that matters to any company is the almighty dollar.

For the sake of everyone picking up an XBone at launch, I hope it isn't true and your next-gen is all smooth sailing. Normally console / game launches are plagued though.
