Surprisingly never was an issue for me until this past weekend. GF always plays on my home xbox in the family room, I play on the other one usually in the basement when playing destiny/halo/borderlands. With the nice weather I moved it out to the 4 seasons room since we have been spending the majority of our tv/couch time out there.


I had been thinking about getting her into racing games (other than Mario kart), she fell in love with horizon 2. I wake up Saturday morning to find her out in the 4 seasons room trying to play but couldn't get it to work. Yep sorry, not my home xbox, cant play my digital games. I signed my profile in so she could play, but an hour later she was still going and I couldn't play something on the other one because it would have signed me out and ended her game.


Got me to thinking...well if they are on the same LAN, and say if my profile is on both, seems like it should be doable right? I mean I can see some ways people could cheat the system and buy a single game for multiple households (like apartments where they can share a same wireless network.) But would be nice if something like that could be done.

Yeah, my wife doesn't really game, we like them for the voice and media stuff....

I've searched everywhere and can't find instructions for using the ir emitter/blaster to control the cable box through Xbox One.

With Kinect (which I do not have) you can change channel with voice so I assumed getting an IR Emitter I would be able to change channel with my Xbox One game controller by using the One Guide.

Can I use the controller to change channels using One Guide and the Xbox Controller? If not, what can I do with the IR blaster? It is sitting in the Dank (name of basement bar) and waiting for me but I can't figure out what to do exactly.

Yep you can use the controller with the ir blaster to control tv receivers. I think you just plug it in, choose brands and whatnot to test codes, then you should be good to go.

Ok. I'm going to mess with it tonight. So if I put the IR blaster into Xbox One and stick the sticky on the cable box I can then press X on the Xbox Controller scroll through the One Guide then press A to change channel?? That is awesome!

dpad up and down can flip through channels, I believe the triggers do fast forward/rewind and the bumpers do skipping for dvr controls. There are a few other button controls on the controller I believe, might depend on the carrier as to what they do.

Trouble. Ha, that didn't take long. I got out of work early and tried a quick setup before baseball practice.

I have the RNG150N Xfinity Box. I have the IR Emitter stuck to the front and the jack in the back of the One.

None of the setups have worked. Can't power off nor does it do the channel up test. Then it says it can't talk to my box.

It's possible that either the emitter isn't in the right place on the RNG150 or that the emitter doesn't work well (I've seen this a lot).

The RNG150's are pretty easy to control (and I have the RNG200 in my office, which is similar). Generally C1982 or C1376 will do the trick. You can try manually entering in the make and model in settings as well.

The power on/off option is not there for me in smartglass. One is updated and there is no update for smartglass that I see.

Perhaps the change hasn't propagated through for you. I know that it doesn't always show up for everyone at the same time, though it's usually not more than a 12 hour delay.

It was made small so it fits well in everyone's hands, but even as a guy who is 6'3", I love the size and shape of it.

Sadly, I am still rocking a flip phone and do not have a tablet. I am ironically the Director of Technology at the school I work at............. LOVE MY FLIP PHONE!!!!!
