Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
That was actually a very insightful read. I can't tell if GabeN is just giving the answers people want to hear or is serious; however, I believe he may be serious since he straight up admitted that Steam support sucks. The partnership w/ Bethesda is what makes this interesting because they are having their own conference at E3 (Fallout 4?). The ramifications of all this could have a huge effect on the mod-ability of the upcoming title. We'll see where all this goes over the next few months.GabeN doing a AMA on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comm...steam/?sort=qaComment

I absolutely hate the CoD franchise, but their trailers are awesome. The one released for Black Ops 3 is fantastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfr053KdD6w.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Can you show me links because I would like to do a little more digging
I originally wanted to do 980 SLI with 2 cards for 4K gaming but it was going to put a huge hole in my account
I think I will be good with a rig that I can max out all settings and get at least 60fps full 1080p
Upgrade in a couple of years to a higher cardComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
What is your budget? 2K? You could easily get a rig that does 1080P 60FPS with that. Especially if you don't need a monitor. Like GMSS said, you don't even need a 980 for 1080P gaming. Can you show me links because I would like to do a little more digging

Do you want this right now? There are rumors AMD will be dropping their next level card soonish + the 980TI from Nvidia which should cause the 980/970 cards drop a little bit.Cincinnati Reds University of Kentucky Cincinnati Bengals

I guess I can hold off a bit. There was one that I saw for 3K that had 2 GTX 980 which I thought would be to pricey at 3 thousand dollarsWhat is your budget? 2K? lol I didn't want to pull the motherboard out and use a dremel. I just wanted to crudely cut it with tin snips and get to enjoying the 290. +1 for cases with no windows!
I agree, there is several companies who always do amazing trailers.I absolutely hate the CoD franchise, but their trailers are awesome. The one released for Black Ops 3 is fantastic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfr053KdD6w.
I see zero point for SLI/Xfire, you gain 30% to 40% but bring several drawbacks. Power draw, heat, and noise on the physical side. Then on the software side you have game issues, crashes, microstuttering/timing, issues. So for me, the tech has not come far enough yet for both sides to warrant chasing 4k at the moment. Monitors are still very pricey, CPU hardware is barely touching medium 4k performance while being just as pricey. Give it 3 to 4 years and it will be common and far cheaper. Can you show me links because I would like to do a little more digging

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
You can run 4K off a single GTX 980. Just not at 60FPS maxed out. Depending on the brand you can currently get a GTX 980 between $500 to $600. 980 TI coming out the end of May, however they will be around $700. The AMD 300 series cards will be out around mid to late June.
Really at it's current state, not all games look good in 4K. GTAV is really the first game that was made with 4K in mind. Also 4K TV is not the same as a 4K monitor.
This chart will help you how graphics cards rank far as performance as of April 2015

And here is the chart for CPUs as of April 2015
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ck,3106-5.html
I would say now I7 6 and 8 cores CPUs or AMD 8 core CPU are definitely worth it for gaming if you trying to run 4K. The extra cores really come in handy. Just keep in mind the 5820K, 5930K, 5960X and AMD 8 cores run hot, so you definitely want a good air tower cooler with a 3 or more case fans or a water cooled system.
I currently have 2 120mm fans in the front of the case, 1 120 mm fan on the EVO 212 cooler itself and another 120 mm fan at the back of the case. I still have room to put another 120 mm fan on the other side of the EVO 212 and 2 more 120 or 140mm fans on the top of my case and another 120 or 140mm at the bottom of my case if I wanted too.
But my rig is plenty cooled enough.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Paid mods getting pulled:
We're going to remove the payment feature from the Skyrim workshop. For anyone who spent money on a mod, we'll be refunding you the complete amount. We talked to the team at Bethesda and they agree. We've done this because it's clear we didn't understand exactly what we were doing. We've been shipping many features over the years aimed at allowing community creators to receive a share of the rewards, and in the past, they've been received well.Comment
