Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
are any of these worth it for a getting into gaming PCs?
$500

$400

I know PCs are superior to consoles but it will always be my 2nd platform just for the fact that every single one of my friends are console gamers. I'm literally the only person I know who plays on PC. So I'm torn because I want something good, but don't want to spend a ton of money as it won't be my primary system. I'm currently playing on an Alienware Alpha Machine that I have upgraded over time (RAM to 16 GB, HD to 1 TB, and Chip to an Intel i5-4690 @3.5 ghz), but it has limitations as far as how much you can upgrade. I'm looking for a decent alternative. I'm currently playing PES 18 right now but want better graphics and settings. Or should I stick with my current set up and keep looking. Or for cheaper, can I use the parts I have and build a custom PC around my current set up?Last edited by franch1se; 09-23-2017, 07:57 PM.Comment

It really comes down to what kind of games you want to play, but both of those are a complete ripoff. Best to use the parts and money you already invested into upgrading that Alpha. An i5-4690 is still a good CPU.
Here's a list of some compatible parts, and you get a way better GPU and an SSD for your entire system to run much smoother.

This would allow to play 99% of games at High-Ultra settings at 1080p 60fps.Last edited by Flawless; 09-26-2017, 04:07 AM.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I wouldn't even touch that $500 PC. That guy have well over a $1,000 worth of software on that PC and he is just asking for $500 ? Yeah that sound highly suspect. Nobody in their right mind would take a lost on all that high end software.Comment

His response was: "I just entered college and I can't take my PC with me and I won't have time to play anymore. I'm looking to use the money from this to buy a MacBook for school".Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Finally made the plunge into pc gaming again after a 20 year break. Getting used to mouse and keyboard again is gonna take me a little but I really do enjoy pc gaming 4K and over 60fps is great. Plus having this library to play with is impressive. Now just to find more games I like. Quick question is there anything now that would be close to the old wing commander? Benn playing Siege, PUBG(completely addicted) and a little CS:Go.PSN:LeftCoastGamer

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Just picked up Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for little over 2 bucks. Wow what a fun game. They also nailed Hong Kong.
Also never got into Assassin's Creed and now there's a big bundle deal. Which ones are must buys?Last edited by RockinDaMike; 09-27-2017, 05:21 PM.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Has anyone checked out that game called RUINER? It just came out this week...EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
11 hours and 394 deaths later, I finished Cuphead. Still going to continue playing to see if I can improve my grades and I want to unlock that black and white filter.
Such a fantastic game, marvelous presentation, and one of my favorites in a strong year.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment
