I'm glad I built my own. It was my first build and I learned a lot. Researched for months and watched plenty of youtube vids. Don't think i'd ever go pre-built again. I'd advise to build your own as it's not difficult at all.

Can't believe how stressful this is. I'm feeling that building it myself is the way to go. I'm not so concerned about building it, but just getting the right components. It's so much stuff out there lol.

Turned the big 50 last week and I think it's finally time to slowly move away from console to PC. When it's all said and done I think having a PC and X1X and of course my Golf Clubs will be enough to get my gaming fix. I've been thinking about this for the last 4/5 months so I feel I've put enough thought into this. It's time to act on it.

Just build it. It is a hell of a lot easier then it looks. Once you do build it, you will be like wow, this wasn't bad at all, I should have done this years ago. Gaming PC building is idiot proof now, everything is labeled and color coded. Back when I started building computers in the 1990s, everything was the same color, nothing was labeled like it is today. You had to know what everything was going off of shape and size.

Yeah if building it is the worry, watch the Newegg video on how to put it together and it should calm you down. It's really just expensive Legos. That hum when you boot up for the first time on your machine will be worth it.

Here's the one I used a few years ago, not sure if they've updated it, it's in 3 parts, the first is choosing components, last is installing windows, the middle is the actual build.

There is a video on YouTube from a guy named Bitwit that has a great PC build guide. I used that and it was a piece of cake.

Going after work today to start grabbing pieces to make this dream a reality. Trying to stay patient and get the right components. I should be up and running by tomorrow.

Quick question. Where should I buy Windows 10 from? What price should I look to be paying? Also what is a considered a good gaming keyboard and mouse? Thanks in advance.

This is what I'm looking at. Tech gurus correct me if anything looks out of place. Remember I'm playing with $1200-$1400 budget and it's mainly for gaming

I did a quick scan and only thing I see which is a no go, that 1050 video card (2GB of ram is bad, shoot no less than 4GB). While I think the 1050 is an excellent value, don't expect to run games on high setting and expect some frame rate issues on unoptimized games such as Player Unknown Battlegrounds. If you come into it prepared you will need to step down to "medium or low" for certain titles then its a good value for this current situation. Then in a year or so, grab a more powerful card when the prices come back down. GPU's are in a weird spot right now price wise due to the cryptomining, they have drove the prices up to insane levels. I wouldn't go less than a 1060, at best shoot for a 1070. Then you will be good for a while.

Now I'd also inspect launch prices vs current prices. Don't go to high over launch.

For instance, the 1060 launched at $249, this isn't a bad price for a 1060 with 6GB of ram. It's high for a 1060 but not high for the current price gouging trend with GPUs at the moment.

Side note: You can stick with the 120Gb SSD but do keep in mind you will only have enough space for maybe 2 to 3 games on that harddrive once the OS is installed & all your other needed programs like antivirus. If you shoot for 250GB you can get by a little more or do what I do. Grab a 1TB regular HDD & use it for games which don't benefit from the faster SSD as much, then put all your heavily played games on your SSD. A 1TB drive will run you $50 for so.

Edit: A used Nvidia 970 would be a great deal at the moment if you could score it under $249,
                        $200 being a steal.

A little reading material for the current GPU situation.
