Paradox Interactive's games are getting absolutely blasted on Steam since PI revamped their DLC prices. EUIV and CKII are great games too...sucks they're numbers are going to plummet now.

Goes to show the community can have a HUGE impact if they work in unison.

All parts have been ordered, waiting arrival. Went with a Ryzen build with a GTX 1080. Now my monitor will be the weak link.

Last I read some of this is being undone.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

So I finally managed to figure out how to stream to Twitch so I could show my buddies some PUBG. However, the resolution of my stream and archived broadcast was really poor (I'm talking almost 240p poor). Is this because of my computer? I've got a fairly powerful rig so I feel like it should be able to handle both but I'm not sure now. Is it something in the Twitch or XSplit settings that I can change?

          Thanks!

I haven't seen anything specific; however, I believe you...especially after all the backtracking Rockstar/Take-Two has done after the recent modding fiasco.

You talking twitch or PUBG settings?

I've got PUBG running on about medium just due to the optimization. I can play most anything on ultra but performance suffers on this.

A better question would be how many cores and what clock speed is your CPU ? What kind of graphics card do you have ? Also how fast is your upload speed ?

Not really a better question. He said he had a decent rig. Most of the time people have wrong settings. 240p is bad

I'm using the free version of XSplit Gamecaster. I have everything set to automatic for stream settings and the such. It does give the option to select the resolution but I'm not sure what my best bet is there. I can't imagine it would automatically default to that low of a resolution but who knows.

I have an i5-4460 with 8gb of ram and an R9 390 card. Is that too little to stream while playing? Not sure if that's the issue. I may have been off base with my "powerful rig" assessment if streaming is that intensive. Like I said, I can run most anything on ultra but I've never tried streaming simultaneously.

Here's the last game of PUBG I played while streaming just so you can see how poor the quality is. Fair warning, I'm hilariously below average to average most round and I end this game with a solid 0 kills .

Steam download speeds have been pretty slow for me today.

Switch your download server to one in Europe (I use a UK server). During sales, the US servers get pounded.

Disregard my prior posts. Just switching the stream settings on XSplit to 720p instead of automatic resolved the issue. The last game I played had much better quality.

I didn't quite know where to ask this, so I settled on the "computer gaming" thread.

Does anyone have carpal tunnel issues from gaming on the PC? Since we use our wrist for mouse and our keyboard hand is normally in a weird position, I'm guessing we are more susceptible to carpal tunnel type issues.

I've been getting the worst carpal tunnel pain in my left keyboard hand. My right mouse hand feels completely fine, but my left is facing some problems. My 4 fingers will get this burning sensation, then a pins and needle tingling will happen, and right where the wrist connects to the hand, on-top the wrist its super painful.

I've been doing some simple stretch, rotating the hands, opening and closing digits, etc to attempt some type of relief. I've also backed off the gaming sessions pretty hard, but it just doesn't seem to be going away.

Now its getting to the point that sleeping is uncomfortable since one of my hands is normally underneath a pillow or me.

If anyone has any tips or ideas on how to help treat this, let me know.
