Great post...it is the ease of use. I'm the same way, don't want to have 8 different stores running on my PC. I've always had some issues with Valve/Steam, but since I already use it it's like "the devil you know..." rather than install other stores. Doubt anyone can knock them off their perch TBH

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I've bought games on other sites and completely forgot about them because they weren't on Steam, lol.
Pretty sure I've accidentally reinstalled MMOs and F2P games via Steam forgetting they were installed ages ago via their websites.
Discord has become our common place for chat though, rather than Steam.Comment

What is brand loyalty to you if this is not it? I guess it's a kind of consumer apathy that leads to it as opposed to fanaticism, but in the end you are a loyal customer for the brand.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Not really because, and we've talked about this very topic before, they (and myself) would switch if there was a good alternative to come out. There just hasn't, though.
It's not the launching that's the issue. It's the updating, friends list game integration, workshop, download speeds, etc.
Steam is just too entrenched right now that some real big money is going to have to be thrown at a competing product to even come close to being mentioned in the same breath as it.badComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Is there an idiot's guide to recording gameplay? I downloaded OBS so I could record my PUBG gameplay but I can't figure it out for the life of me. The concept is entirely foreign to me so I feel stupid trying to figure it out. I tried following a couple guides on OBS to no avail.

Factorio is surprisingly fun and addictive...
Kearnzo I went HERE when I first started using OBS a while back and was able to figure it out after a bit. Haven't used in a while but didn't take too long to get going.Joshua:

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Question for you guys using Discord. My brother in law and I have been playing PUBG most nights, but no matter what I do, he can't hear me through voice chat. Everything seems to be working fine, my microphone is picking up my voice, and I can hear him. I tried messing with various settings to no avail.
I am using the Sony Gold wireless headset, so I don't know if those are the issue. He can hear me just fine in the in game chat, but it's fairly annoying that you can only voice chat while in a match and not in the menu when grouped up.
Just curious if you guys have had similar issues or have any solutions.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I was going to say same thing, sometimes Discord will default to an input which isn't working, like your webcam for example. If that's not the issue, have him check what his Discord output is set to and making sure he has it set to his headphones or speakers he uses.Comment

Steam Link coming to 2016/2017 Samsung TVs.
Steam Remote Play a way for people with good home networks to seamlessly play their Steam games between two computers running Steam.
Hope that includes the KS8000. Think it does.
Samsung is adding Steam Link functionality directly to their latest line of Smart TVs.
If you are in the United States and have a 2016 or 2017 Samsung UHD TV, we'd like to invite you to help test the Steam Link App, now available as a free beta from the Samsung Smart Hub.
The App uses the same streaming technology as Valve's Steam Link, allowing users to play their favorite games, and even spectate VR games on the HTC Vive, wherever they watch TV.
During the beta, playback of 1080p video at 60 FPS and support for the Steam Controller are included. For worldwide release later this summer, support for streaming 4K resolutions and additional controllers will be added.
Note: Streaming to the TV requires a Steam Controller and a high-quality network, at least 5GHz. A wired network is strongly recommended.
Please let us know how this is working for you and post feedback and questions on the Steam Link discussion forum:
