Paying a markup, but it's not that bad. That box is $1800 and change on the Microcenter site... that's a $250 motherboard, $250 cooler, $650 graphics card, $140 case, $350 processor.

    They're off the shelf parts.

Just buy it and build it, the only part you can remotely mess up is all of the little wires on the motherboard, most everything else is like putting the round peg in the round hole.

All else fails reach out to a local friend to help in a pinch, or prepare to take some photos and post them here for help.

You can almost literally just open the motherboard manual and follow the instructions once it's mounted in the case. Look at 1-3 onward here: http://www.microcenter.com/product/4...sktop_Computer

Yeah for 2k you can get a better build especially if you do if yourself. You have any computer savvy friends or a shop around you? I'm sure you could get parts put together locally for less than they are charging you.

The PowerSpec X503 Desktop Computer features the Intel Core i7 4790K Unlocked processor kept cool to overclock by the Corsair Hydro GTX H100i liquid cooler. This high performance gaming system is based upon the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT systemboard powered by the Corsair HX 750W 80 Gold power supply in a Corsair Vengeance C70 chassis. For gameplay domination, it also includes an Nvidia GTX 980Ti 6GB GDDR5 video card and 16GB of EVGA High Performance DDR3 memory. Note: The Windows 10 Professional operating system is loaded on a Samsung 240GB EVO solid state boot drive and the system also comes with a license and media for Windows 7 Pro software. You may only use one version of the Windows software at a time. Switching between versions will require you to uninstall one version and install the other version.
My build is almost exactly the same. I have a GTX 980, not a TI, though. I also have 32GB of RAM. You'll be able to run every game at its highest setting in 1080p. If you have a 1440p monitor, you'll be all set there as well for the most part. The Witcher 3 and Just Cause 3 will be your systems biggest challenge.

Like everyone else said, you should build it yourself and save some money.

You will never max out settings on all games with just 1 980 TI. Most games yes, but not all. And if you thinking about 4K then yeah that isn't happening off 1 card maxed out.

I've seen people build their computer at Micro Center's tech support bar (I think it's called the Knowledge Bar). They put it together on their own, but if they had questions or problems, they could just ask.

The store is usually pretty helpful.

Am not interested in 4K gaming at this time

I am more into 1080p high fps with some 1440p

                I might SLI the 980TI

At 1080p? Yes, he will. I run every game maxed out that I play in 1080p. 1440p is a different story.
You also have to keep in mind that SLI support/quality varies by game. Most large titles will support it, but sometimes SLI support is mixed at release.

That is 1080p......who wants to play in 1080p on a gaming PC ? Especially with a 980 TI ? That is a waste of money to build a gaming PC just to play in 1080p. If you spending close to $2,000 on a gaming PC, your goal should be 1440p and higher.

To be honest, if you just want 1080p then don't even buy a 980 TI. Save your money and just get a R9 280X for $200 and an AMD 6300 for $100. You won't need that motherboard or cooler either. Could easily save yourself $1,000 if all you want is 1080p. That rig is over kill for 1080p.

What do I need to boost up in that build to give me most games maxed out at 1440p

You will be fine with most games at 1440p maxed out. 980 TI has 6GB of VRAM, so you will be fine.

So I can get that set up on my own for less then 2K

Here's a rough estimate. I think I matched up all the parts based on the build you posted.

You could save even more money depending on bundle deals and sales on various cards and boards.

His build has a H100i watercooler on it too, adding another ~$200.

980 Ti is overkill for 1080p today, but you'll be a fair amount future-proofed should you want to dabble in 1440p, VR and newer titles for the next few years - and likely much longer. Using mine on a 2560x1080 ultrawide and the only thing that's choked it up a little is ARK, which is a newer title needing better optimization. I overspent on my card because I intend to get a Rift or Vive by the end of the year.

Really for $1850 you're not getting completely ripped off as you're getting another layer of returns/warranties on top of just the individual warranties by the component makers, and of course peace of mind from not building it yourself but it's an experience I wouldn't pass up if you're remotely interested.
