So what multiplayer games do you all play? We have a nice little group on Steam, we should try and get something going with something everyone plays.

Agreed, we need to get together for a game. Its a little harder for me since I'm in Hawaii, but if someone stays up late, I'm down. I usually play Planetside 2, L4D2, and TF2 for my multiplayer amusement; however, I play F1 2012 on the weekends so I can race with all the European fans.Comment

How is Planetside 2? I have it downloaded... Just haven't started it yet. Heard the battle scales are huge.Agreed, we need to get together for a game. Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I played it at a friend's house a few days ago and it was insane. I got involved in a night time battle where all three factions were converging in one area (a valley). It was insane. Also, I really enjoyed the fact that a lot of people were using mics and using them for the correct reasons (teamwork). I confirmed this wasn't a one time thing by doing some research.
I plan on getting into it a little deeper this weekend.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
My macbook is starting to go up and I'm thinking about getting a gaming PC to replace it. I'm completely lost when it comes to PC's though. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations on what I should be looking for? The most I want to spend is around $600.(If that's even possible)
Thanks for your help.Last edited by Bmore; 12-22-2012, 07:26 PM.Ravens - Orioles - Terps

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Do you want to build or buy a pre-built? Its definitely possible to build a gaming rig for $600 or less, if your okay playing games using medium-to-high settings (not ULTRA). I'm not sure how feasible a pre-built for less than $600 would be since I've never purchased one.My macbook is starting to go up and I'm thinking about getting a gaming PC to replace it. I was looking at pre-built, but it looks like I can get more for my money if I build my own. The problem is I don't know how to build my own. I'm assuming a computer store would be able to build it for me.Do you want to build or buy a pre-built? Are the medium to high settings still pretty good for games like Battlefield 3?
I've looked into the Alienware x51, but it seems way overpriced for what you're actually getting.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I played for an entire weekend a few weeks back and subbed for 3 months. It is organized chaos on a massive scale. Headset and a good working outfit are an absolute must as lone wolfing it will get you nowhere. I enjoy the unlock system and you constantly earn points. It isn't like Call of Duty where you constantly unlock but gradually gain certs. The factions are different the only two issues I have with it is that you are really fighting over nothing, I wish SoE could up the stakes somehow and the other being capping points is mostly useless and you get way more for kills. Definitely worth trying though. No tutorial hurts the beginning but figuring things out doesn't take too long. Just prepare to die a lot at the beginning.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
The team objective mode is similar to Splash Damage's Return to Castle Wolfstein/Enemy Territory games. The maps are large, fairly open, and consist of objective chains (about 4 objectives per map).
The setting is medieval times, the combat is melee-only and there's all kinds of brutal deaths and dismemberment.
There's also some Counter Strike team deathmatch survival modes that only let you have 1 life per round. First team to 10 points wins.
Mouse and keyboard controls are a little iffy, but the game plays great with a Xbox 360 controller.Comment
