Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
NVIDIA has a cryptomining card, but I dont think no one is buying it because there's no resale value in buying mining only cards.
AMD seems to be embracing cryptomining, they even have mining specific drivers. I think AMD and NVIDIA dont care if gamers get cards at this point, because they're making so much selling to miners
I thought about selling my Vega when I seen the prices they're going for on EbayComment

Hell they have dedicated crypto mining machines too that are 1/4 the size of a desktop tower, but people still use gaming PCs for it.Comment

PRetty much. The profits are too good for AMD and NVIDIA right now.NVIDIA has a cryptomining card, but I dont think no one is buying it because there's no resale value in buying mining only cards.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Just paid for my EVGA step up from a 6gb 1060 to a 1070ti for just under $200. I had originally bought the 1060 "used" from someone else for $200, but it was just open box and he had it for a few days with the receipt. With the insane market prices nowadays, I'm seriously debating just selling the new 1070ti and try my luck in the used market for a 970 or so.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I am just so surprised how much GPU's are going for right now due to crypto mining. My 1080 Ti can be sold for $1200-1400, people are getting $1k for 1070's. Jesus this is insane. LOL!
I own crypto, but all of mine is from using fiat to buy and not mine. I hope these prices come back down to earth, it's sad for those wanting a gaming PC yet can't even do that now.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I hadn't really paid much attention to the whole cryptocurrency thing, but I didn't realize it was attached to why it was so hard to find a graphics card lately. I went looking for the card currently in my PC - a Gigabyte Radeon 7870 on Amazon (a card from 2012) - and it's reselling for $350 on Amazon. I bought it new in 2013 for $260.
Bananas.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I feel the same way. I was quite tempted to sell the 1080 Ti for almost double on what I paid. My concern is you get someone that buys it on ebay, uses it for 30 day to mine and then opens a SNAD case or worse, Paypal gives them 180 days to return. That gives people too long to mine with the card and then return when the new cards are out so your stuck.
Then you have to figure, what if you want to play a PC game in a month, good luck trying to find another card.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
FF XV benchmark tool released.
Frame rate stayed above 60, except for some stuttering on transitions. High Quality with all of the Nvidia GameWorks features was in the 40s, but less stuttering on transitions. IQ for both at 1080p is a bit blurry.
Edit: Turning off the Nvidia overlay cleared up the stuttering.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
3004 (barely Standard) on the regular settings (Standard quality, 1920x1080). Meh. Looks pretty for sure, but it's pretty obvious I'd be turning down some settings in order to get it to pull even 30 FPS. Processor is a bigger bottleneck for this one than the graphics card as I got some split-second pauses throughout.FF XV benchmark tool released.

My PC is getting too old and I can't even do much to upgrade right now short of buying a gaming PC
