Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Let's hope the Steam Deck does better than the Steam Box that was sold by Alienware a few years back. I thought that was going to bomb for several reasons and it did. The Steam Deck looks interesting but I think it's overpriced and the gamers they are targeting are those who lots of portable gaming. My Nintendo Switch is always docked and I have a pretty beefy gaming rig for my Steam games.
The BIG question will be going forward if Valve will feel pressure to update the hardware frequently because PC games tend to move the system requirements much faster than console games. If they go for frequent updates will gamers follow who spent hundreds to find out their mobile PC gaming machine is suddenly outdated.
Nintendo is in a different league than Steam because of their back catalog of games.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
That's the issue I had with NCAA 14. Audio was all messed up and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.Comment

Only way to fix it is get a better CPU. However, it’ll still play great without audio and cutscenes are 60FPS on the emulator, just gotta have the right settings.Comment

Please let us know how you enjoy it, if selected in the first phase in early 2022. I was going to preorder one, but the buttons look a little too close together for my liking. With my sausage fingers, I'll hit the the right analog stick while trying to hit a button.Comment

Definitely. Like the idea of taking it upstairs and playing in bed from time to time or at lunch in my car when at work.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I'm not sure what CPU would be considered a standard to run the game smoothly with good audio and framerate. Mine is a Ryzen 5 2600X. Not a bad processor, but not high end.
But even with that processor, I can play high end games at good frame rates with it matched to my RX 5600XT.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I'd assume there's other CPU's that may be cheaper that do the job, but one I went from the 8600k to the 10700k I had absolutely no audio issues with NCAA 14. So I can confirm that a 10700k at least works near flawlessly with it.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
With NCAA 14 on RPCS3, it's all about CPU cores, not speed/efficiency. To run the game with flawless audio, you really need an eight-core (or higher) CPU.I'm not sure what CPU would be considered a standard to run the game smoothly with good audio and framerate. Mine is a Ryzen 5 2600X. Not a bad processor, but not high end.

Ah ok. Mine is six cores. My CPU is the next upgrade I'm doing. But I think I'm gonna have to upgrade my motherboard to do it though. Will probably be a while because of that. Probably gonna have to spend $400-500.Comment

$5 deposit put down. It won't be available to me until sometime next year. This is perfect for me if i just don't feel like playing a game on my PC and just want to lay in bed playing something. I'm curious how this will run something like Doom Eternal or Cyberpunk 2077.MLB: Chicago Cubs
NFL: San Diego Chargers
NHL: Chicago Blackhawks
NBA: Chicago Bulls
NCAA: Iowa HawkeyesComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
That isn't a bad processor, but RPCS3 is just so CPU dependent and some games just require every bit of it, NCAA is one of them.I'm not sure what CPU would be considered a standard to run the game smoothly with good audio and framerate. Mine is a Ryzen 5 2600X. Not a bad processor, but not high end.

Those high end games made for PC use a mix of CPU/GPU, some games are CPU heavy, some GPU heavy. The emulator is so heavily CPU based, you can even get away with a rather weak video card, assuming its not super old.
Even with my i7-9700K OC, you get the ever so slight stutter of audio at the conclusion of a play, but not everytime. One thing I will say for sure, besides having the right settings, you HAVE to be on the right RPCS3 build, 11605 is the version I use and find works best for NCAA 14.Comment
