I have Dota 2 in my inventory, it was gifted to me by someone. Is that the actual game or just spectator mode? How would I know?

We have a Dota 2 thread that is semi-active. Need to get it more active.

Just scooped up Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion as it is 66% off. Then saw that I get a free upgrade for originally buying the ultra buggy Elemental War of Magic that is now Fallen Enchantress.

Good day for being a Stardock fan!

I've always enjoyed Stardock's games. Is Sins of a Solar Empire multiplayer only? I heard it didn't have a single player campaign, just want to confirm.

Just download it and play it. It's free until Sunday 1PM PST to download and play so you should be able to get a feel if it's worth the 8.50 to you.

Sins of a Solar Empire is basically Civ in space.

The option for single player is there just like it is in the Civilization games, though not a "campaign."

You had me with the "Civ in space" line. I love the Civilization series, so I guess its time to spend some money...

It has a much higher learning curve.

I've only played one game of it (not even to completion) but I got pretty stuck to a point where I wasn't making tons of money, nobody could touch me (my defensive structure was too much for them) but I wasn't able to expand out any more because I didn't have enough offensive capability.

Obviously there's a difference between Civ and Sins, but it's a very good game (with a decent modding community.)

Not sure which I prefer between those two since I don't have much experience with Sins yet.

I like Sins, but I wouldn't characterize it as that. It's more of an RTS.

Really need a modern version of Birth of the Federation.

Yeah, it kinda blends the genres

People have taken to calling it RT4X, but from my playing experience I got more of a Civ (or other 4X game) vibe from it than say... a StarCraft or Command&Conquer vibe.

It is an excellent multiplayer game. Plus the developer has been steadily putting out free updates since release.

                                Well-worth the $10.
