Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Not a steam game, but are any of you playing League of Legends?
(I run mine through steam, and my usernames are the same. ubernoobNTH on either if you want to add me.)
I hated it because I was horrible at the game, but picked it up randomly again yesterday. Been having a lot of fun with it. I'm pretty deadly with Annie.badComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I can't get over the jerkass community enough to play it or Dota. I know that's a part of multiplayer gaming, but MOBA's are the absolute worst. It does seem fun if I could ever get into it, but that barrier is what keeps me as a spectator. Not a steam game, but are any of you playing League of Legends?

Funnily enough, after the Auction House meltdown I'm actually starting to get back into Diablo 3. Mostly because I never went beyond the first act in Nightmare and I know I've still got quite a ways before the economy failure would affect me in any way (my drops have been more than enough to get me through the 2nd act so far).
Auction house is back up now, btw.Comment

Surprisingly, I haven't had any issues with the community. I avoid the message boards and stuff like that, though. I've run into more helpful people that not, which really surprised me.I can't get over the jerkass community enough to play it or Dota. Granted, I'm still in the low levels and not playing league matches yet or anything... but it hasn't been bad at all.badComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I love me some Dota and after putting in 150+ hours of Dota 2 I finallly have a clue about what is going on. Couldn't imagine doing it all over again for LOL even with knowing friends who play it.Comment

I got a DotA2 key from someone in my guild (guild spans about 15-20+ games with active chapters now I think) but I haven't really tried it out yet.badComment

I'm really surprised this hasn't happened already but Steam needs to add mobile games to it's Steam Mobile app, complete with achievements. It's a nice app but it's missing obvious feature. Seems like a no brainer or am I missing something?

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Square is going to favor the PC from now on:
Square Enix has posted its annual financial results for the year ending 31 March 2013, and it makes for somewhat squirm-inducing reading. The company made an "expected extraordinary loss" of ¥13.7 billion (£88m), owing to an increasingly "competitive" console market and internal reorganisation costs.
While its net sales were somewhat positive - ¥14.7 billion (£94m) for the year, up 15.7 per cent from ¥12.7 billion (£81m) in FY2012 - its heavy losses over the last 12 months (compared to ¥6 billion - £38m - profit in the previous year) has forced the publisher to refocus its development efforts, with a greater emphasis on the PC, mobile and tablet markets.
"In response to the latest environmental changes in the game industry, the Group has implemented various strategic initiatives such as a change in its development policy, organizational reforms and redesign of some business models," the report states.
"The business environment surrounding the Group is in the midst of major changes, where smart devices such as smartphone and tablet PCs are spreading rapidly, while the console game markets in North America and Europe are increasingly competitive and oligopolistic."Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I may be pessimistic, but that article makes me feel like the focus will be more on mobile than anything. Look at the FF ports floating around the iOS and Android stores...they microtransaction you to death.
I hope I'm wrong, but I believe the article is "intentionally misleading" by using the word PC.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
There is a rumor floating around Slickdeals that the Steam version of Dark Souls will be on sale for $7.50 on 16 May. I'm definitely going to pick this up if the rumor turns true. I even plan on getting a few extra copies. Now we wait and see...
