Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I got the BL pack a couple of months ago when it was about the same price(I think it was around $23 or $24). Only have 1 character so far though, Maya, I think level 42 or so. went through the game once(except the newest DLC). recently started to go through it again in the true vault hunter mode. still a bit over leveled at the point of the story I'm at, so it's slow leveling at the moment.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Same happened to me. I put down Borderlands for a few months before going back and finishing it. I played BL2 when it first came out up until level 20 or so. Got a little bored and then everything else came out last year and I still haven't gone back to it.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I do now. It's empty. How do you even get stuff for it? Other than the special event things anyway.
Everyone go here and play this demo: http://undertale.com/
Don't read the kickstarter or watch the trailer or anything,it's better to be suprised. It's a fantastic game from what's there. Even has alternate endings just for a demo and apparently it knows if you try to "save scum" then calls you on it. (I didn't try, just read about it afterwards.)Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
BL2 improves on everything from BL1, especially the characters and story. No real reason to play BL1. Lets get some coop going on Steam!Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Well after watching the video of Alpha 10, $30 is probably a decent price to get it for now. When I bought it, it was in early alpha. Might have to give this another go.
Awesome game for those who love these style sims. It is fun.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
This is not a knock on Rogue Legacy, but don't y'all feel like the indie scene is becoming over saturated with "retro" pixelated graphics (and platformers for that matter)? I know I do. It was refreshing when games first started utilizing old school techniques, but now its getting ridiculous.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
The recent explosion of 2D games is simply a result of small groups of people making games within their means.
All it takes is one programmer and one artist to make an awesome sprite-based game.
3D games of any type, by contrast, require significantly more manpower and technology to create.
That makes 3D games a financial and logistical impossibility for smaller teams unless they are helped out by a major publisher. Especially if you're planning on having HD graphics and animations on-par with today's Xbox 360/PS3 games.
As for why there are so many platformers, again, it just comes down to what's easiest to make. Complex physics or multifaceted AI isn't needed in platformers, so once you nail down the main character's movement, the rest of the work is just a matter of building rooms and filling them with art, enemies and obstacles.Last edited by jyoung; 06-27-2013, 08:38 PM.Comment
