Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

For the first time in my gaming life, my heart strings were pulled hard tonight while playing The Walking Dead - Episode 3...

    Spoiler

    *Sniffle*

Being only half way through the game, I'm sure I'm in for more. This game is great and I highly recommend it for y'all. I'll definitely be doing another play through just to make difference choices.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

The final Pre-order bonus was announced for Europa Universalis IV, you get a copy of Crusader Kings II(full game, no DLC) plus a CKII to EUIV save game converter so you can continue you game from CKII into EUIV. It's technically an exporter DLC add-on for CKII I believe.

The other Pre-order items for EUIV are DLC content, new unit models for nations involved in the 100 years war, new unit models, events, and picture for the Byzantine Empire(which at the point of EUIV start is down to only 3 provinces, but many people like to try and "Restore" the empire for a challenge). so now you'll be able to play from 967 AD(if you start with the Old Gods DLC) all the way to the 1800s with EUIV.

I don't think it matters where you pre-order the game, you'll get all the pre-order bonuses. There is a Digital Extreme Edition that includes more events, unit models, and music for Muslim nations. It's only $5 more, so it's not like other game's special additions.

You can pre-order EUIV from Greenmangaming.com and either get $8 back or $12 store credit(for the Digital Deluxe, regular edition is $7/$10). so for less than $40 you can get 2 full games that can build into each other with a save game converter. I'm not sure how the CKII bonus will work, hopefully it's just a code you can gift or sell for those that have it already, but I guess it wont be like that.

also, if you have previously bought a Paradox made game on steam, you can get 10% off on EUIV if you buy it from steam.

Edit: based on the press release from Paradox, you'll be able to gift it, so I guess it'll be a steam code.

That is awesome! I've never finished a CK2 game but I would imagine if i did there would not be much of the world left to take over for EU4 .

I'm getting really excited for EU4 the more I find out about it. I am planning on doing a France game first (I have never done France in CK2, Vicky2 or EU3). Then I will move on to Austria and Ottomans maybe try Byzantium also.

I'm currently trying out a russia game in CKII to import into EUIV. started out as Rurik I who was Norse culture/religion and started in Novgorod(named something else when your Norse). My Dynasty has since shifted to Russian culture and Slavic Pagan religion. made the Kingdom of Rus and have enough land needed to create Russia(an Empire tier title in CKII), just have to get enough gold to get it which is a lot. It's not even 1000 AD yet at that. had some very good wars in the first 100 years so far.

I don't really plan to dominate Europe though. once I get the De Jure lands of Russia(and most likely a few more areas), my plan is to mostly try to help other countries make their borders look nice by joining certain wars, and try to spread my dynasty to other realms(marriages). Not sure if I'll stick with Slavic religion or move to Christianity before EUIV. My plan for when I import it to EUIV would be to secure my eastern border and then expand westward into Asia.

but things change in these games quite easily, so anything could happen.

as for vanilla EUIV, I probably will have a game with an Asian nation(usually Korea in past EU games), maybe play England and try to win the 100 years war. I typically try to play as Byzantium and attempt to bring them back. But most of that is mostly to pass the time until some of the major mods come out for EUIV.

Solid plan but one flaw. Them hordes lol. They will be a big problem later on for your dynasty. If you manage to make Rus you are basically one of the first to be attacked.

I tried a game as Rurik before its really rough if you stay Norse. Currently I'm doing a Brittany game surprisingly I have been able to fend off the Karling dynasty, remain independent and expand. One thing I have been doing to the Karling is trying to make them inbred. So hopefully that can end their grip on western Europe and its hilarious when an ambitious inbred declares war on you. I have been able to pick off duchies of Normandy and anjou (probably spelled wrong), I've been slowly forcing my Celtic culture onto the Italian/German/Frankish mass dynasty. Interestingly the Capets did control France at one point but I stole Normandy from them. But it seems the Norse king of England is dead set on invading me. So I may have to swear fealty to stay alive at some point.

Speaking of Norse England I wonder how that will transfer into EU4 if they and Scandinavia are still Norse. To my knowledge Norse isn't a religion in Europa.

Ah the struggles of Europa as a non European nation. I will be doing one as well just not right away. I will probably pick Japan don't know why just have good memories with Japan in Victoria 2.

I Don't think I've had all these plans for a strategy game before it must show I'm really excited for this game lol.

Metro is $34 and not even part of Humble Bundle...

                            Riptide is $19.99

I can pay $24 on the Humble Bundle and get everything on that page with all DLC, Soundtracks and Riptide....

Some of the games I already have...I can sell the steam codes for $5 bucks to $10 bucks each and make all my money back and still profit...

yeah, I plan to try and use the Slavic pagan's +80% defensive ability for all unit types and the fact that enemies of other faiths suffer from massive attrition to my advantage. Probably the single reason I'll stick with Slavic over converting to Orthodox like historically.

as for Pagan religions in EUIV when converting, if you reform, you will be that religion in EUIV(reformed Norse will be Norse, Reformed Slavic/Slavic, etc...). If they are not reformed, you'll be either Animist or Shamanist.

The way the converter works is it takes a save from CKII(doesn't matter what date you export either) and make it into files that EUIV reads like a mod. If a nation in CKII has a nation tag in EUIV, then it'll use that tag(and it'll carry over your current ruler's name and heir's name). If the nation does not exist in EUIV, it'll create a tag for it with the name, coat of arms, ruler and heir, country color, and probably other things.

my current Russia game, Hungary already reformed Tengri religion and I just reformed Slavic(which I now regret as I think that gets rid of the attrition penalty that enemies get when in slavic lands). so those 2 should end up in EUIV. Sweden's ruler converted to Catholic, so if that remains, then Scandinavia could end up being Catholic for EUIV(Sweden almost has enough to form the Scandinavian Empire). most of England/Scotland is still Norse though and Poland has been my main ally as they are also Slavic and we're allies through marriage(their ruler is also Russian, lol). Hungary exploded up again though, I guess they are still overpowered though I have them split in half at least.
