Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Finally got my TV and speakers all hooked up in my new place. I played around with Big Picture for the first time and it really is the way to play controller accessible games. I love it.

I'm gonna give the program Pinnacle a shot. Apparently it runs Diablo 3 and the Mass Effect series like a dream on PC. We shall see.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

      Hello all,

I had a problem this morning when starting up my computer. I shut it down last night and did some windows updates and when I turned it on today it showed me the screen on the picture that I attached. Pressing escape within 5 seconds did not escape that menu and only allowed me to enter commands that I don't think helped me. I was able to enter exit but windows would still not boot. Like I said I don't think I changed anything and didn't have any issues until shutting down last night and a couple of windows updates installed.

      Specs
      CPU: AMD FX-8320 Processor
      Motherboard: MSI 990FXA-GD80
Windows 7 installed on a Corsair Force Solid State Device
      16 GB of ram
      GTX 680 video card

      Thanks for any help.

        From http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/43...g-table-starti

Your EFI bios configuration has been corrupted.

Go into the bios, load defaults, save, exit and reboot, if it doens't come back, your sort and need to tweak the bios to suit your hardwrae.

          I love you.

EDIT: Partially, this allowed me to load up a version of windows that installed on my secondary hard drive and never used but I still can't seem to get my SSD with my real version of windows loaded up.

I'll keep an eye on that game. Along the same lines, what's with all the horror genre games coming out? Just another one of the "phases"?

That plus the time of year it is.

I just browsed through steam and saw Agarest is coming out for PC.

If we're gonna do this genre phase thing, here's to hoping strategy/tactics-RPGs finally get some PC lovin'.

Also, as a random aside question. Which steam skins do you guys use (if any?) I'm kinda torn between a couple right now that I feel I'll be switching between.

                One of them is Pixelvision.

The other is Metro for Steam.

I like both of them for separate reasons.

To be honest with you uber, I didn't even know there was such a thing as steam skins. I will have to look into that. Both of those skins look nice.
                  PS: You guys are great.

No idea either, aside from the public-facing profile skin.

Here's the link for Metro for Steam (the bottom picture I put up.)

Here's the link for Pixelvision (the first picture I put up.)

Now that I have my categories all set up for the games I own (took a while figuring out where I wanted to put each of the games) I really like Metro more and more. Pixelvision was much easier to set up the categories in though, just because the text is smaller and I could fit more on screen requiring less thought on my part. The categories are nice and clean, while still staying easy to read.

The Metro website also has a configuration tool you plop in the Metro folder that will allow you to change the orange to whatever color you want. So far I'm sticking with orange because I like the contrast.

Yeah that looks really nice. Wish Steam would use their current game metadata to let us just sort and automatically categorize our library.

Agreed, it would save a huge hassle. Sorting a couple hundred games by hand wasn't hard, it was just tedious. Took maybe 15-20 minutes, checking some alongside metacritic to see what they had it listed as. I broke it down a bit further though (as you can see I split CRPG/JRPG/Western RPG/ARPGs) so I guess those would all be lumped together with the steam metadata.

For those of you who haven't picked up BioShock Infinite yet, GMG's 24h sale has it for $19.99 (50% off.) Pretty good price for an excellent game.

Not sure if anyone has seen/played Super Hot yet, but its on Greenlight and probably has one of the best shooter mechanics I've seen in a while.

Hi! We are SUPERHOT Team. The studio behind: SUPERHOT, SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE and SUPERHOT VR. Three different games with confusingly similar names.

You can play through the build on their site in like 10 minutes.
