I just got in to the beta myself.

It looks like right now it's limited to only people that have had access to your computer at some point(their account signed into your computer).

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Just saw that Microcenter has some decent cpu/mobo bundle deals for AMD with in store pickup. Can get a FX 6300 (the CPU recommended in the video trobinson posted) and a MOBO for as low as $110.

      http://www.microcenter.com/site/prod...d_bundles.aspx

Not sure the hit in performance from the 6300 to an i5 is worth it. The framerate hit from the benchmark articles I read earlier seemed pretty significant with some games.

I was thinking about waiting for prices to possible drop as you guys have suggested. Are they expected to drop within the next month (before PS4 releases)?
The AMD GPUs,not CPUs. I think they're due out with BF 4.

That was actually in response to trobinson video he posted, since the recommended build from it included a FX 6300 as the CPU. I should have direct quoted it to avoid confusion.

I was just wondering whether going with an AMD CPU was wise even though they are cheaper, since I read some articles earlier that seemed to imply they were inferior to Intel by a decent margin.

Ah ok. I think it's best to stick with Intel there. Not sure if there's new AMD CPUs or not. But yah just wait a few weeks and the current cards from AMD and NVIDIA should all be down significantly.

I've been playing around with Family Share and basically, if you want to share your games, you need to have the person you're sharing with login to Steam on your computer. For example, if you want to share with someone you met at OS, they would have to give you their login information (password too) and have you login. Not very safe

That's why Steam calls it "Family Share" I think. The idea is for families to share games, not random strangers.

Little Inferno and Dust are both on sale in case you're some sort of bad person that doesn't have them already.

If you want the best value for the money and to set you up in the future, do yourself a favor and get an i5-3570k. If you live near a micro center you can get it for a great price.

All things being equal, yes the Intel you are likely to buy will outperform the AMD in most games, there is no question about it. That's not to say that the AMDs don't perform well though, because they do. I use AMD CPUs and I haven't had any gripes with the performance I get. I'm not having any problems maxing out the games I play with acceptable framerates. You won't have to worry about playing at unplayable fps is what I am saying.

Honestly, more often than not, you get most of your gaming gains from your GPU typically anyway. You can get get similar performance if not better with the cheaper CPU with a stronger GPU sometimes than pairing the stronger more expensive CPU with a cheaper, weaker GPU in some cases. Also moving forward as more game engines (like Cry-Engine 3) start to favor multi-threading, AMD's CPUs will really start to shine. But it's up to you and your budget and how you want to go about it, Intel has unquestionably superior performance all things being equal but AMD is a valid choice. The differences in price could be a stronger GPU or SSD. I can't tell the difference in 15fps when both are running over 60.

I can also tell you that Tek Syndicate wouldn't be recommending a **** build. I didn't link the vid because I am championing AMD, but because they've simply been doing a series of vids recommending budget PCs for people looking to go that route instead of consoles. If they post an Intel build I'll link that too.

So yeah, then there is pretty much no real point in it for me that I can see.

Dear Batman Arkham Fans - Microsoft has begun the process of closing down Windows Live services over the next year. To make sure there is no interrupted service, we will be moving the game to Steam for verification and update services for both the Base and GOTY versions of Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City. If you purchased either of the games on Steam all you have to do is let Steam download the latest patch and you will be fine. If you purchased the games...
