Hey guys with the new Xenoblade being announced on the Wii U and me missing Star Ocean till end of time I have been itching to play some fantasy RPGs. Anything with monsters/space/story. I have played Mass Effect so that's our of the question and Dragon Age 1 and 2.

        Any suggestions?

          For PC?

You're pretty limited, unless you want to delve into emulators.

but since you mentioned Western RPGs:
          • Witcher 2 - Blows the doors off of ME/DA.
          • Dark Souls 2
          • Morrowind (or Skyrim if graphics matter more)
          • KOTOR

If you want some good CRPGs:
          • Baldur's Gate
          • Baldur's Gate II
          • Icewind Dale
          • Planescape: Torment

You're pretty boned on JRPGs, though, as I said earlier. Here are a couple:
          • Final Fantasy 7
          • Final Fantasy 8
          • Ys
          • Recettear
          bad

Witcher 2 and KOTOR for sure. Icewind Dale is one my all time favorites if you're into that kind of thing. And then obviously FF7 and 8 are good as well
Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, Lightning

The best RPGs are pretty much PS2-era and back. Use a gamepad and grab some emus for that. There's Jack and Crap out for the PS4/XBone. 3DS has a few, but some of the bigger ones suffer from issues. Like the second half/final third of Bravely Default being stupid.

Here's a list I started a while ago, I'm still adding to it (it's my personal list, so that's why some of the random columns are on it.)

Jade Empire is another good Bioware RPG. GOG.com has the best version for windows 7/8.
                        New York Yankees
                        Chicago Bears
                        Chicago Bulls
                        Rutgers Scarlet Knights

                          Start with Planescape: Torment.

If you like that one, there are many more isometric PC RPGs like Fallout 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, et al.

That's a grid based RPG isn't it? Only one of those I likes was FF Tactics or ones like X com/Valkyria Chronicles where it's a hybrid of both grid and real time.

I'm sorry, I don't want to seem like I'm being picky. I really do appreciate the suggestions. Lol.

And yes Jade Empire is superb, still waiting for a second one.

Planescape is an Infinity Engine (real time with pause) game, like Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale...not a turn based game like the ones you mentioned.

It's strength lies in the 'story elements' (writing, characters, dialogs, setting), not the combat.

And pretty much most all turn based rpgs are real time everywhere outside of combat.

And LOL at the guy who said your limited with rpgs on PC

Here's a good link I posted a few pages back you probably missed..

                              http://www.rpgcodex.net/content.php?id=9453

Remember just look at the whole list and not really the order/rank of each game, as it's not a curated top 70 list.
