Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Keys (From DoTa, Team fortress 2) are items that can be sold on the Steam Community Market (the same way the trading cards you earn can). Currently they sell for $2.49 a piece.

When someone says they have a game, they then say how many keys they want for it. You then buy the keys off the Steam community market and then trade them for said game in Steam.

It is more secure than PayPal because you are trading on Steam (meaning the transaction goes through at the same tiem) as opposed to PayPal (where you would have to risk paying a stranger first and hoping he is legit)

      To add to Mill:

Only trade with reputable traders, IE those with pages of +rep comments, etc.

I never buy a game for full price. I always go through trades with keys and sometimes paypal if I have dealt with the trader before.

So looking at the market right now, if a guy wants Dota 2 keys or TF2 keys, does that mean any keys?

Under the popular items category, there are Mann Co. Supply Keys for TF2 and Treasure keys for Dota 2. But then if I run a search within Dota 2 for the term 'key' there are other ones also. Sellers don't specify which ones they're after.

This guy says he just wants keys.

        http://www.steamtrades.com/forum/J6I...ore-w-tf2-keys

Comments offer Dota 2 keys but have no idea which ones. Sorry to keep asking but still not sure how to get in on this.

Okay, I see some threads with specific key mentions which makes sense but some are after CS:GO case keys. Some of them are cheap but no idea if they're the right ones.

Might just wait for a sale, lol.

Speaking from experience, just deal with TF2 keys, others are useless and too much of a pain.

TF2 keys = mann co keys. That is it. Simple, unlike the others like you mentioned.

Also, even though you can get cheap CS:GO keys, they require the same amount as TF2 keys money wise.

Just go to google, type in tf2 keys marketplace, you will see the steam marketplace. Add funds to wallet and buy keys. That is all you have to do Best of luck, if you need anything, my steam is usually always on.

                Thanks mate.

Think I'll shelve the steam trading idea for now. The guy I wanted to get it off says you need to be level 10 (I'm only level 8) and had a ton of other requests before he would consider you. Too much work to save $10.

If you ever need a game, I know a couple traders that I always deal with. I saved over $22 on divinity.

                    Appreciate the help so far.

I was after NBA 2K14 (got it on the XBone and 360 but want UBR). I've seen some guys have it on the forum. Some want 4 keys, some 5 keys, one guy I wanted it from had it for $8 or 4 keys with good rep but given I'm level 8, I can't get it off him apparently.

I know it will go on sale for around $7-$8 so I'd happily pay that but I've no idea how to set up a trade, think I'll end up buying the keys and someone else will take the code before I actually get to it.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

I'm seeing Trails in the Sky pop up on a few wishlists, so I thought I'd set expectations for what you'll see in it if you've never played. It's a turn-based JRPG, around 50-60 hours in length if you do everything (my PSP game clear is 60 on the dot). It's kind of a strategy RPG type battle system with the grid system and all, but the amount of space you can move in a turn is pretty big and it doesn't usually end up with wasting a turn trying to get across the field to attack. Also, Arts (magic, basically) can hit any target in the battle. It can also draw comparisons to Xenosaga's battle system with the use of "S-Crafts" which allow you to interrupt the turn order and deliver a powerful attack. I'm not going to go into orbments, but that's your main way of customizing your characters, both in stats and magic available to them.

I won't go into the plot either, but be advised it's a slow burn. Also, aside from in-battle quotes and sounds, the game has no voice acting - it's all text. For me this is fine, because it has what I believe is the finest translation I have EVER seen in a JRPG, and that is a big part of why I am now such a huge XSEED fan. The characters' personalities really come out in the dialogue, and IMO it doesn't really need voiced lines to get the story across. You'll see what I mean once you play it.

The game is divided into chapters, each one centering around a town and the surrounding areas you visit. That means that once you cross the border into the next chapter, you can't go back to the previous town. There are many sidequests to do in each chapter, so make sure you've taken care of absolutely everything you're going to do before advancing (the game will let you know when you're about to cross these points).

That's about it...enjoy it if you're picking it up, and hopefully you'll be jonesing for the second chapter as much as I've been since 2011 once you're done!

A couple more iterations away from a 360 controller.

Happy to see them back off the dual touchpad and add a stick.

Would this matter on PC when alot of those games dont even have full or any controller support at all?

Every game on PC can have controller support, thanks to free programs like Joy 2 Key:

Download the latest version of JoyToKey for free! JoyToKey enables PC game controllers to emulate a mouse and the keyboard input, so that windows applications and web games can be controlled with joysticks.
