I have a triple monitor setup but I don't use any programs like that. No need for them to me.

Do you play with the lights off? If not then I guess I can try and get used to it...

Room lights? Both yes and no, depending on the time of the day.

If it's at night and I'm streaming, then my light is on. If it's dark in my room because someone is sleeping then it's super dark.

I also have a dark webpage (normally twitch or twitter) open on my left monitor, the game in the middle (in borderless windowed of course) and either nothing on the right or some random application. Having an almost entirely black background helps me though. Can't ever have a light background or webpage open or its too much for me.

I have it preordered (and a controller). Would prefer to stream to the Xbox One but that's my fallback.

the Controller looks a little too funky for me, I will just use a Xbox 360 controller and buy a wireless mouse and keyboard

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Just saw this earlier today about a possible major security breach at Valve/Steam.

Steam Hit by Major Security Breach, Many Accounts Hacked

Valve’s Steam is the biggest platform in the PC gaming market, with Valve themselves being one of the most prominent companies in the gaming industry as a whole. Steam has millions of accounts all over the world, and in some cases people have invested literally thousands of dollars into their own accounts. Which is why a security breach like the one that just occurred a few days ago is something to take very seriously.

Reports are still blurry and information keeps coming out – Valve themselves are yet to make an official statement on the issue – but according to a demonstration that was posted on YouTube, a hacker could abuse the “forgotten password” feature in Steam’s log-in service, completely bypassing the stage where they have to enter a security code, and being granted access to reset the password of the account.

All an attacker needs to carry out this exploit is the account name of a Steam user. It’s not yet clear if Steam Guard offers sufficient protection from the exploit, as there have been some reports from users claiming that their accounts have been compromised even with Steam Guard enabled.

Valve have closed the loophole already, but not before significant amounts of damage were done to many users. Among the affected are various prominent Twitch streamers, who’ve had their accounts hijacked and locked down. Valve have apparently started to impose a 5-day “ban” on accounts that have been compromised in the incident, but it’s not clear if there will be any additional consequences for those who have been affected.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

The account breach was early last week and those affected were primarily Dota 2 players. So if you're a Dota 2 player or someone with a lot of high value in-game items, you were "targeted". If not, you're probably in the clear.

Regardless of the timelines, thanks for posting. Others may not have been aware of the issue.

Anyone here know how to fix the "client has stopped working" or "client is not working" in regards to attempting to play a steam game? I recently got a better laptop and was hoping to play this particular game on the new laptop. Everytime I try to, I get one of the previously mentioned messages immediately and I crash back to the steam menu!!!!
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Have you tried verifying the particular game's cache? There may be a file missing that "talks" to the Steam client while playing it.

Have you tried clicking directly on the game's executable? Go to your Steam games directory, the game's folder, then click the executable. What kind of result do you get?
