Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Hadn't went full board into streaming because CPU just wasn't strong enough and the nvenc encoding was meh.

Ended up using Christmas funds over past two years and ended up getting 1700 , and man I'm really happy with it. At stock with no tweaks I was gaming a little better than my 6600k while stream at 3500 and 720/60 at faster when I set it up last night and did some testing. Looked really good and can probably increase encoding or OC and increase to look even better which is why I bought it just to improve my stream so it would drive me to be more serious and stream more often now that quality is good.

Very happy with the 1700 .

Hey guys. What are your guys' thoughts on this PC?

      https://support.hp.com/us-en/product...ment/c05638874

Do you think it'll handle everything fine(specifically PUBG and Fortnite as that's what I'm playing right now on console)? A friend of mine is selling a brand new one he bought at a discount over the holidays for $550.

It'll be my first gaming pc if I get it. Been looking to get into pc gaming for a couple months now. Just looking for something to get my feet wet though, don't need the baddest rig out there right now.

That CPU is iffy but it will do both of those games fine. Probably not on high settings, but medium settings, yep you are golden.

I went 1700 for my new build, liquid cooled it, and overclocked it to 3.7. Being able to stream at 1080p 60 is a thing of beauty, so far I'm loving it!

Yeah I read some reviews on it and some people actually said they could play PUBG on high settings. But I’m not sure what fps they were getting. Just thought I’d see what u guys thought though. Seems like a decent deal, don’t think u could build it for less than $550 especially with this whole mining thing going on. I’m gonna be taking the plunge on it after work today or tomorrow. Can’t wait. Haven’t played a game on a pc since I was like 8 playing half life lol.

Is there a site or guide you used for over clocking? Right now I have just the wraith cooler which others say is fine for an O.C. of course I would either try modest o.c. or monitor temps but I haven't went full board into research that's why I ask if you had a site that took you through it.

Also over clocking isn't a one time deal is it? I mean I can go for 3.4 or something and later down the line with better cooling push it further?

Phobia for non partner is 1080p twitch streaming possible I though 720p was highest.

I didn't use a site, but you can find many videos & write ups on how to do it. It's very very simple.

You should be able to do somewhere around 3.4 to 3.5 with the wraith but any higher and your temps will get to high I'd assume.

Oh yea you can change it at any point, higher, lower, default, etc.

No, you can run a 1080p stream. The only thing partners had that regulars didn't was access to higher bit rates. It use to be 3500 for non-partners and they recently upped that to 6000. Bit rate affects how good the stream looks but the higher you go, but the better internet connection your viewers need is the drawback. So most partners still run a lower bit rate so anyone can view without buffering.

Awesome info. I had a few videos it just seemed too easy just changing a number and option in bios and that made me wonder if was missing something.

Good info on the stream options appreciate that. Now with this setup there's no more excuse not to stream. It's amazing how easily it handles it with gaming. I read the nexusgaming review and comparison to 8700k which I was debating getting but glad I didn't. Those results were basically a draw so $100+ difference is a steal. Don't know what kind of deals people have but if you have Microcenter I got mine for 229.00 from February ad.

Not to mention your getting 2 more cores. Now the 8700k is still the go to CPU for pure gaming. It's single core performance is fantastic but with more games starting to use multiple cores and how your average PC gamer is multitasking more, the Ryzen's falls in a good place.

For those who use a wireless Xbox One controller on their PC, have any of y'all kept receiving notices from Windows 10 that there may be a problem with the driver for the controller? I get the message every time I start my PC, and when I click on the Troubleshooter, it reports that it couldn't find the problem; however, unless I hit "Dismiss" on the Health/Status page, the message will remain.

Another issue I'm having is Windows Update keeps trying to install my printer drivers, which I do not want since I have no reason to print from my gaming PC.

                      Any thoughts? Help is appreciated.

Wish I could help, but I've got is to say I've had the same damn issue you did for so long/often that I just go wired now.

To clarify the issues I've had have been with the wireless adapter. It would randomly disconnect, then somehow lose functionality in Windows as if it were a driver issue. Got too tired if disconnecting and reconnecting and updating drivers I just keep the USB cable connected at all times now. Nothing worse than dropping connection in the middle of a Rocket League match.

I did just do a fresh Windows install so I am going to give it another go see if it's better. As far as the controller itself, I have no problems.

That sounds similar to an issue I had - it seemed to stem from using the adapter in different USB ports and having multiple instances of the driver installed. I removed all instances of the driver and have stuck to making sure to plug it into the same port each time and I have yet to have any issues.
