Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I don't mean for this to be taken anyway except for genuine curiosity, but if you're willing to fork over $10, why not just give $2 more and sign up for this month to get the game, then cancel? It's what I did to get XCOM 2.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
You can buy it at Best buy too. It's on sale for 9.99 or 7.99 with GCU. There should be a digital code inside the retail box.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I signed up for it but have not received my code yet. Definitely want to give it a try.Has anyone else signed up for the NVidia GeForce NOW Beta for cloud gaming?
I signed up for it like months ago and got a code last night. It allows you to play games you already own on your laptop through the cloud with ultra settings. Your laptop and internet need to meet certain specifications but it worked for me.
I used it last night to play Snipe Elite 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider and played at 1920 x 1080 resolution and 60 frames per second and I was very impressed. I never got close to anything like that. Only a few tiny hiccups here and there.
I don't play any computer games online so I can't comment how good it would be with an online shooter.
I'd definitely recommend signing up since the beta is free and you can't beat free.PSN: ckarlic

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Anybody here have any issues with Easyanticheat? Ever since the windows 10 update I'm unable to play games that run Easyanticheat.
I bought Watch Dogs 2 a week ago and everything was fine. A few days later I was unable to launch it. I actually blamed Ubisoft at first until I tried to play Rising Storm 2 Vietnam. I was unable to launch that as well due to EAC. Some strange reason EAC refuses to run. I followed all the youtube tutorials about going to the folder to run EAC. No luck whatsoever, I pretty much given up lol maybe someone here had this issue...
Anyway these are the games that have EAC that I play (well used to now)
Warhammer Eternal Crusade
Watch Dogs 2 (sucks that I just bought this and now I can't run it)
Rising Storm 2 Vietnam
Warhammer Vermintide 2
I'm actually a patient gamer so I'm not really as bothered as I should be....but still I do want to play some RS2V...Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I purged my friends list of about 50 people (150ish down to 93), many were inactive accounts of OS members (200+ days not on Steam) and then a collection of randoms. If your account happened to be one, send me a friend request and I'll get you added back.Comment

I'm more than happy to help bring it back since I'm a moderator, but I have limited "powers" since I'm not the owner. If this is something y'all want to do, we can definitely do it.
We'll have to work with the group owner to do anything more than a moderator can.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
For me it's time issues and now that summer is around corner.. won't get much better.
I'm just collecting games for when I retire
I'll also admit I've fallen into the play for a while then move on mode.
Puzzle type games or any etc..
I think the long, epic games simply don't fit me much any more.Joshua:

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I'm kinda of in same boat but different when it comes to long, epic games, I loved The Witcher 3 and was enjoying the hours I put in, but then the competition side of me wants to challenge real opponents and suddenly I'm only playing PUBG. I get 2 or 3 hours a night to sit down and play, I'm always prioritizing towards PUBG and then 2 weeks later I want to play The Witcher but now I've forgot the controls and where I was in the story. I then just stay playing PUBG every nightFor me it's time issues and now that summer is around corner.. won't get much better.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I don't think I've been this torn on buying a new GPU in a long long time.
I currently run a Sapphire 290x Tri-X and it's still a beastly card for being almost 5 years old now but now that I built my new rig & the only piece of equipment I didn't upgrade was the video card. I'm starting to feel the need to swap it out while prices are somewhat back to normal.
The 290x is a huge power monster is my biggest concern for wanting to upgrade. Under load it can pull upwards of 200w and a full system power consumption range of 450w to 550w depending on build.
Whats kind of been holding me back is my frames, I'm still getting over 70fps in every game I play and when I do drop $400+ I'd like the upgrade to last near as long as this one (4 years or so).
So my options are kind of limited in my eyes, what do you guys feel about this assessment?
- RX 580 - Very little performance improvement over 290x, 150w lower total power consumption (300w total system draw) - Pass on it
- 1070 Ti - Decent performance improvement over 290x, 150w lower total power consumption (300w total system draw) - Possible upgrade
- Vega 56 - Decent performance upgrade but still falling short of the 1070ti, very little power saving, maybe 50 to 80 watts - Pass on it
- 1080 - Good performance improvement over 290x, 100w lower total power consumption (350w total system draw) - If found used and decent price, possible upgrade
- 1180/2080 - Good performance improvement but Nvidia has confirmed the wait time will be "long" before they are released - Not sure I can wait that long
So as of now, I'm leaning 1070 Ti, but I'm not sure if spending $500 to upgrade the 290x is worth it. Do you think the 1070 Ti will get 4 years or so out of it before needing to take the plunge again?Comment
